Pregnant after 35

Contractions

I am 36.5 weeks along, and yesterday I thought I was in labor. In 2 pregnancies, that was our first false alarm. Luckily, I have an OB appointment today, and I will find out if delivery is slightly more imminent than we expected! Still having a couple of contractions per hour, and these suckers are strong! I would like for him to stay in there another week, at least, but it's a relief to know that in a couple of days he would be "early term" anyway. (Which until a few months ago was just considered full term.)

Eek!   You're just a few days ahead of me and this makes me nervous for both of us.  :)  I hope he can stay in there a bit longer for you.  Good luck!

  • Thanks, guys. I'm almost 3 cm dilated and 60% effaced! just like last time around. (I was dilated for 3 weeks last time.) Doc said he would bet I'm pregnant one more week but would bet I won't be pregnant 2 more weeks. Walking around dilated is so stinking uncomfortable!
  • How are you feeling now?   I hope your LO gets at least a little more bake time without making you too much more uncomfortable!  Whatever happens, though, you'll be meeting him pretty soon ... exciting!

  • I'm about the same. I'm officially "full term," and DD was 10 days early, so I'm pretty mellow about when he comes from here on out. Hilariously, I have to give a briefing today to our executive team, and I had multiple emails last night making sure I hadn't gone into labor over the weekend. I've already warned them that "executive presence" and "breathing through contractions" don't exactly go hand-in-glove!
  • With my third I started contracting at 36w4d. It was off and on, but pretty intense. At 36w6d I had an OB appt and was told it could happen any day or three weeks from now. I was annoyed and felt he was not listening to me. Two days more of agonizing contractions and my water broke at 37w 1 d. I was happy we were full-term and she was born at 7lbs 9oz. However, it was too soon for her. She ended up spending 2 weeks in the NICU until she could learn to breathe on her own. Hopefully you can get a little more time out of your little one, but the prodromal labor sucks!

Good luck! I hope you are feeling okay.
I am 36 weeks- This is my first so I have no idea what to expect!!!!
No dilation or effacement yet! However the baby dropped so I definitely feel more pressure especially by the end of the day or when I am on my feet a bit.

Hang in there- you are almost there!
