Fitness check-in

Well, I decided to schedule a few personal training sessions at my gym today. I am hoping they help me lift more effectively and properly. I also would like some added cross training tools. I am looking into new running shoes, too, because mine are starting to wear more than I'd like. What else is everyone up to?

Re: Fitness check-in

  • That doesn't sound fun @WhoCanItBeNow‌. Shoulder injuries are painful.

  • I haven't done anything lately. I feel like a lump. I have been eating okay, though and lost a few pounds this month, but I really need to find a fitness routine/schedule I can stick with. I feel like I'm trapped in somebody else's body and I need to get out.

Check out Inov-8 for training shoes.  They're a bit pricey but I have nothing but great things to say for them.  I have a pair for weight training and another for trail running.  Very minimalist (if you like that sort of thing) and lightweight.

Thank you, @futant462.  I will check those out!

  • My chronic sciatica is giving me real issues again.  I noticed the wear on the right side of my shoe is significant versus my left, so I wonder if there is something I need done physically to alter my gait.

This may help narrow down what kind of shoe you need. I've been using the wrong kind for most of my life.

  • *waves* I SO don't belong in a thread about fitness but I have done some sort of activity for 3 days straight and consider that a victory because I'm sick of this extra baby weight.  It's been nothing to brag about but it's a little cardio and a little core work.  Baby steps, I guess.  I don't run but like walking at lunch but I'm struggling with sneakers because I wear a child's size and I don't think kids' shoes are designed with fitness in mind the way adult shoes are, kwim?  I've always just used cheap sneakers for every day wear but maybe any actual brand is better.

  • I had a good gym session yesterday but running gave me a headache/migraine again so I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Because not fun.

  • Add me to the lazy lump list (if one has been started....if not, I'll start it). I mean, I'm active at work (I'm a waitress PT), but actual working out? Fucking slacker right Herr.

Aaaand.. my eating habits have been shit. I need to stop with the sweets!!

  • Doing good so far! I went out and walked almost an hour today (equivalent of 3-3.5 miles) and am down 6.8 lbs in 4 weeks :)
  • @MrsT0514 I'll be on the lazy lump list with you...I tell myself everyday that I need to get back to working out and lose some of this baby weight (yea DD is 3.5) and everyday I stuff my face and do nothing instead. Rinse and repeat. Ugh.

  • @ILoveBoys- add me to the "My baby is a preschooler and I haven't dropped all the weight gained while pregnant with her" club ;) Its tough!
  • @GotGingy- great job! You're still lapping everyone on the couch.. remember that!
  • I've gotten back on the wagon in the last week.  I made it to the gym for cardio and core work all last week.  It has been so hard to adjust my schedule since I went back to work and I am so lazy lately.  I can't wait until this baby girl starts sleeping better!

  • M and I did Day 1 of C25K this evening! I did pretty well for the first half, but the second half I couldn't make it through the full 90 seconds of the running intervals. All in all I'm pretty proud of myself. Now I just need to keep at it.

  • (new here but trying to jump in) just started running again, this time in an effort to really keep it up - no gym and broken treadmill combined with terrible road conditions all winter made it pretty challenging to get off the ground/off my ass. First time pushing my enormous child in a jogging stroller made it a pretty killer workout.

Now to prevent my child's insistence on never sleeping from becoming an excuse to be lazy...
