Volunteer job

If you have a volunteer job do you ever feel like they treat you like a slave? I volunteer 2 places and I feel like I am talked down to and they never say thank you. Other volunteers feel the same way and I was wondering if I should bring it to the attention of the GM?

On a hate scale it's a 100 for the supervisor of my shift, I almost slapped her across the face today. Everything was finished and so I said I was gonna leave and she literally was like move that mat 2 inches.

I don't have a volunteer job, but I definitely think you should talk to the GM about it. If they don't care or the situation isn't fixed, could you find another place you'd be happier? You're giving your time and effort to this place so it should be fulfilling/rewarding!

I used to manage an animal shelter with a large volunteer base. It is so important that volunteers feel appreciated and not bossed around. It makes me sad to hear this is happening to you. I would definitely raise your voice and tell the GM because if you feel this way, I'm sure others do too and that in itself will hurt the cause you're working so hard for. And the higher-ups should certainly want to make sure that's not happening. So sorry it's not positive for you!

Before I moved to a job that required normal hours, I volunteered at a free clinic on my days off. I did not feel that way at all. I felt much appreciated. Although it may have been a different situation everyone there was a volunteer.
