starting water

My pedi just gave us the ok to start giving LO water. We bought her a little sippy cup and only put about an ounce in it. She either doesnt like it or cant figure out how to get the water out haha. Any recommendations on how to get baby to drink more water?

They don't NEED water. My first baby started drinking water a few days before he turned one when he figured out how to drink from a straw.

The need for your water also depends on type of milk LO is getting. Breast milk changes throughout the day, so it's sometimes creamy and sometimes watery. Formula fed infants might need water sooner because it doesn't change.

Also, the doctor saying it's OK to start water doesn't mean you need to do it. If you're unsure if the Dr said "can" or "should" you can call for clarification

Our LO started on water when we had to switch to formula, which was about 3 months old, we gave him an oz or two in a bottle throughout the day
