Stopping Progesterone

Good afternoon all.  I know this question comes up often but I am mobile and the search does not seem to be working for me.  However... I had my 10w appointment with my RE today, they did the MaT21 test, a sono, and tested for my progesterone.  The baby looked great wiggling around on the sono, and I know the results of my MaT21 won't be ready for a week.  However...

This is my real question.... They asked me to stop taking my PIO on Sunday in prep for this appointment today.  They did my test and they like to see anything over 15 and mine was at 17.  They said I could stop taking my progesterone, but the number makes me nervous.  Am I over analyzing?  Help?

I'm glad you posted this! I take my last PIO on Saturday night & I'm also feeling anxious I certainly won't miss it though!

I'm only doing crinone, not PIO this time, but my RE is having me drop down to 1 crinone a day at 10 weeks and completely stop a few days later. I can't wait! I was nervous stopping with DS but, like a PP said, your placenta starts to takes over sometime between 8 and 10 weeks so don't worry!

I took the supplements. They told me to stop at 10 weeks. My prescription lasted until 12.

I was on crinone and stopped (as directed by RE) at 10 weeks. We used DEggs as I had my ovaries removed and everything with ok when I stopped. I'm just over 24 weeks now :-)

Thanks for asking this - I was wondering the same thing. I wasn't sure how much longer I'd have to do the vaginal capsules for, and my doctor said I'll stop between 9 and 10 weeks so that seems in line with what I'm seeing here.

I was on endometrium and stopped at 10 weeks (cold turkey). I posted the same question & asked about any possible symptoms. I was fine, baby is fine. I think the only possible symptom I got, someone said her doctor said spotting a few days after stopping was normal. I didn't but it was nice to know just incase. Like pp's said, relax and trust your doctor. Good luck ladies!

My RE graduated me back to the ob/gyn... I don't believe they have a plan to recheck my progesterone but the RE said to take it until 10 weeks... they gave me way more then that when they refilled my prescription but 10 weeks will be when I stop... good luck!

I'm so glad you asked this!  I too was getting concerned about going off of the Progesterone.  The first cycle I took progesterone with inserts is when I got pregnant, so the inserts feel like a security blanket for me.  I'm sure we'll all be fine and that the doctors know what they are doing.  They are the ones that helped us to get pregnant in the first place!
