Re: ~~~ Pact Grads Check In ~~~

  • I feel like I've just been a grouchy, impatient B lately. Everything annoys me. Even had an argument last weekend with DH, and apparently I just whine whenever he tries to do something fun.

But A/S is on Thursday. I've been feeling baby move more regularly now. I feel like I'm getting that pelvic pain a lot earlier than last time (where it feels like your bones are coming apart.... because they are....). But it's not bad, and not even everyday.

We haven't really agreed on anything yet. But I want them to have their own rooms. I want DS to get out of his crib, and hopefully just sleep on a twin mattress on the floor. DH didn't really seem on board with that... I'm not sure if I want #2's room to be closest to ours (DS's current room), or if I just want to be lazy and leave DS where he is, and put #2 in the room at the end of the hall.

We haven't done anything yet though. Nothing. But I'm pretty sure by this point we hadn't done much for DS either, other than get hand me downs from BIL and SIL.
  • Loading the player...
  • Despite all my whining earlier, I actually don't feel too bad. My biggest physical issue right now is that my nose has been stopping up at night so I wind up mouth-breathing. My mouth and lips are completely parched by morning. Yuck.

QOTW: We will have a nursery for DS2 next door to DS1. It will be where DH's office is right now. He still has not completed packing the first box. I wonder if it would be easier to pack if I put everything out on the lawn for him. I'm sure by the time all those electronics rolled, slid, or bounced down the porch roof, they would have a nice soft landing in the grass, right? (Stop whining.) Oh, yeah, so I don't have any real pics yet, but my color scheme is mainly aqua and teal with pops of lime green, brown, orange, and yellow. The fabrics below are what I am using to make the quilt. I really want to emphasize the teal tones in the room b/c they're so soothing to me, but I loved the alphabet print and the whimsical animals. I'm still deciding whether or not to do an alphabet wall. I will probably wind up just painting some canvases instead and just do a few letters (Aa with an alligator, Pp with a porcupine, etc). If DS isn't feeling rotten when he wakes up from nap, we're going crib, dresser, and glider shopping. What color glider would you get with this color scheme? The walls will be pale aqua, floor is Brazilian cherry, furniture will be dark or cherry wood. Ideally I want to be able to reuse the glider in another room later, but I feel like I would still like something in a muted grayish-teal. Thoughts?

  • Feeling better, and DS is still sleeping 7-8 hr stretches!!

DS is in the nursery right now, and as it is pretty nursery-like the new baby will go there and he will move into what is now the office. The nursery is bright green with a giving tree mural I painted and black polka dot curtains and bedding my mom and I made, so it is gender neutral. I haven't decided if I want to do something cute with DS's new room yet. It is ugly right now as it is the only room we did not re-do when we moved in. Beige on 3 walls, ugly wallpaper on the fourth. The carpet it what makes me undecided though. It is fuchsia, ugly, but in like new condition. I don't want to replace it, since it is in such good condition, but I can't really do a cute boys room with bright pink carpet. There is decent hardwood underneath, but I think I would rather leave the carpet until it is more worn out. WWYD?

Is there a way to work with it instead of around it? Make a volcano theme and the carpet could be lava? Monster theme with lots of other bright colors? I know not everyone is into this, but could you get a throw rug in a different color to minimize the amount of fuchsia showing? Once you get his furniture in there, it might not be as jarring?

Well I just went in there and the carpet looks 100% better in all natural light. It's almost maroon, so I think I will leave it. I think is is always worse in my mind. image

  • DH just gave me the nod to get this nursery collection! https://www.franklinandben.com/arlington-nursery-collection  It is discontinued, so the store near me that carries it is giving me a great deal on the floor model crib, dresser, and chest of drawers!

  • I finally have energy to get through the day now. I have an appointment tomorrow and I can't wait to hear LO's heartbeat again. I just get so nervous that something is wrong in there since I can't feel him/her moving yet.

I snagged some stuff off of Sweetbottoms yesterday for my NB stash and it has already shipped!!! I just wish that GMD would have done something.

We haven't even started on a nursery yet. We actually don't have the room in our current house. I can't wait until the military gets our new house ready so we can move. I have so many ideas floating around in my head but have no idea how much space we will have and so on.

  • Your guys' nurseries are so cute!

I haven't checked in in a few weeks. We found out last week we are having another BOY! I felt like it was a boy since the stick dried so I wasn't surprised. I'm excited to start getting some stuff done!

No fluff buys, but I did get all of our newborn fluff out to inventory. I forgot how small everything is! I keep crying like a crazy hormonal mess because Oliver is just so big! When he was born I put a lot of focus on buying GN diapers so we could use them again. Well this is likely our last kid so I want to spring on some cute boy prints. I'm mostly looking for covers. Any suggestions?

I'm feeling the little guy move all the time now. He is punching my bladder already. This does not bode well for the rest of the pregnancy. I'm also getting 10+ Braxton Hicks per day. So good times this Summer! ;-)

When I read this, I spent way too long trying to figure out what old wives tale said a dry stick meant you were having a boy. Oh, wow. Welcome to team blue!!

We had a tiny house and had a mini crib with our first. It worked great! We still have it and will use it with this LO.

  • So let me ask you gals with more than one kid a question... how long does it take the first kid to adjust? We are putting off switching to a toddler bed until after the baby comes. I'm trying to figure out if we need another crib or if we could get by with a pack and play for a while. Think it will be longer than four months? I don't want him to feel like the baby is stealing his crib.

I would switch O now except he loves his crib. A lot. He asks to go in it all the time and loves playing quietly in there when he wakes up. I feel bad taking it away just for the sake of moving him into bed.

  • Man, I feel like a slacker with all the cute nurseries here.
  • I'm still here. So uncomfortable and miserable and ready! 3 cm as of last Thursdday, and if I'm going to be one of those women who walks around that dilated yet goes til 41 weeks or something, I'll cry, because the week I was 3 with DD, she was born.

DH is dragging his feet setting the crib up. DD1 and DD2 will be sharing a room, but the baby will be in our room in a RnP and then PnP for the first 5 or 6 months like DD was. DH said if he gets off work early this afternoon, he will set the crib up, so I will come back and post pics when it's done. Right now, the nursery is just kind of a mess.

3 weeks until my C-section. Seems like no time at all, but to be quite honest it is dragging. I'm so DONE.  Also this baby is HUGE.  I'm a little worried about my awesome nb stash.

As far as a nursery goes, we aren't setting one up yet.  She has a dresser/changing station and crib in a alcove in our room.

I set one up for Asher and he never slept in it.  Seriously.  lol.

  • @abcoleslaw So close, and yet so far.  I feel ya.  Why are you worried about your NB stash?  Oh, bc the baby is so big?  They have tiny little chicken legs for a while, remember.  And if you are out of your NBs super quick, you can send any extras my way!  I have slow growers.

I just don't know what to expect.  Asher was a tiny nb, 6lbs at 40 weeks and 19 inches.  But within 3 weeks he shot up to the 100th percentile for length and stayed low for weight.  I thought maybe I'd have another baby like this.  But she is already bigger at 36 weeks than he was at the full 40.  LOL  I'm scared.  I'm thinking I may only get a couple weeks out of my NB stash.  Depending on how she fits when she is born, I might just sell it before it is used so I can get more cash to throw into my OS fund.  We'll see.

I really put together my nb stash with thought and care, my OS stash not so much, at least not yet.  So it would be sad if I couldn't use the nb stuff.

  • @jmejme How did you make the letters for the artwork?  I have to do something like that.  I still can't sing that song to my baby without crying.  My mom always sang that to us and she passed away almost 6 years ago now.  I can't believe she didn't get to see her grandbaby and I want to do something for him that gives him a part of her.

  • I was too lazy to post the other day.

    18 1/2 weeks.

I'm feeling pretty good. Walking that fine line and not crossing into low blood sugar or high has been rough for me. Especially mornings. My NP said its normal, and I had the same issue with Logan, so I'll just deal. My body aches most days, especially at night. Thank goodness for my Snoogle! Overall I can't really complain. :)

We find out sex on Tuesday. I'm excited! I know the A/S is to make sure baby is healthy, but I'm trying not to worry about that. There is no reason baby shouldn't be healthy, but in a worrier.

This is baby number two. It will share a room with Logan. We are going to get him a toddler bed and use the crib for baby. I think we will transition him before baby gets here. How do I get him to stay in his bed? He's a stubborn one!

All we need for this baby is a dresser. There are little random things, but most of it we still have and use, since Logan just turned one. We will need clothes if it's a girl, but I think it's a boy. ;)
