All done. She freaked out the entire time. They actually gave up and didn't do the EKG because she was freaking out so bad. But the doc listened and didn't hear a murmur which is fantastic news! Typically they'd confirm with an echo and EKG but he knew there was no way that was happening today. Back in 6 months!
@mbm1983 she has two heart defects. A PFO and a VSD. They found them when she was in the hospital for the pertussis when she was a month old. They told us to come in at 6 months and that they'd both probably be gone by then. Went in and they told us to come back in another 6 months and that they'd most likely be gone by then. Went in and got the same thing again. Went today and they couldn't hear it back in another 6 months for confirmation. They're hoping that because she'll be 2 and understand a bit more, she might be easier to work with.
What really scares me is that she's the same weight she was at her 12 month appt. The pedi didn't seem worried at her 18 month checkup though, but the specialist was concerned.
@stephcarter, i'd probably listen to your pedi more, since that is the doc with the growth curve on record and all that jazz. Also, if it helps at all, Alice has only gained like a pound since 12m. She was right around 25lb then, and now she's around 26.

They were stressing me out big time. I kept trying to explain that she eats and she eats a lot! Maybe it's because she's walking and running all over the place now? She weighed in at 21.5 lbs today and 34 inches. Tall and thin.
I felt so bad the entire time. She was screaming and crying so hard and they were trying to hold her down. I wanted to cry, I felt my eyes tearing up. Another doc came in and told the nurse to just give it up and let the doctor take a listen first. When the doc didn't hear anything he decided not to torture her with another EKG attempt. She screamed the entire time he was listening to her heart which makes me a tad nervous he missed it, but last time we went she also screamed the entire time and he managed to hear it right away.
