My Baby Fell Off the Bed

Fell asleep with him on my chest and the next hing I know- thud. Our bed is maybe a foot and a half off the floor which is carpeted. He cried for less than 30 seconds. I've woken him to see his eyes and for a feeding. Everything seems fine but of course now when he turns 14 and can't spell I'll blame myself. We have a pedi appointment in the morning so I'll let them know what happened- Yeesh.

Don't worry, it's happened to the best of us! I remember the first time my son fell off the couch. I think I was more traumatized than he was! If he was really hurt, he'd cry for longer than 30 seconds.

From what I've been told, if they are crying that us a good thing. If they were seriously injured they wouldn't be crying. And like @KariB509‌ it happens to everyone. In DD's almost 3 years she has tumbled off, ran into, fallen over or jumped into pretty much every hard surface in my house. Babies/kids are surprisingly sturdy! I'm sure he will be able to spell just fine!!

I nearly dropped Ava off the couch a few days ago doing the exact same thing. I woke up at the last second and caught her. All babies are going to fall, if he were truly hurt then he would have cried longer. ((Hugs))

This. I still remember my first child rolling off the couch like it was yesterday and it was 18 years ago!! It happens to most of us at some point.

Thanks all! My first took a tumble off the bed as well. I was much more relaxed about it this time, but it does give a scare. Thankfully, he's totally okay.

My husband was was getting DD1 (7 months old) out of her stroller when she threw her toy on the parking lot. He reached to grab it and she reached for it too and fell head first on the parking lot. She was all scraped up and we spent hrs in the ER getting X-rays and checking for concussion but she was fine and a few weeks later you couldn't tell it ever happened and now she is a very bright 2 year old

No worries they were made to bounce! Ds1&2 have both rolled off of things and they are ok. Ds 3 has yet to base jump off of the furniture yet but he's only 1 month old

Glad he's ok!!! I basically live in a house with cement/stone floors. Why do area rugs have to cost so much?

I think we're all doomed to experience this. I think about that happening at least one a day. I'm glad he can't roll around yet

They told me at the NICU that it will happen eventually.  Guess you got it out of the way

I was giving my LO a bath in the sink (his face in my hand and his belly laid across my arm with his back resting against my belly) when he got mad and threw his head back. He slipped and hit the back of his head at his hair line. He cried for a min. I cried all night long. Called the ped at 9 at night to see if I should bring him in. Ugh. Worst mom ever right here.

I read this this morning, and this afternoon my LO fell off the couch. Seriously the worst feeling ever! I may drown in Mommy guilt tonight..

ETA: Especially since she had her 2 week checkup today and had her heel sliced open for the blood test. She's had a hard day!

Oh my gosh! My baby almost fell out of the recliner just now head first!! I fell asleep and I guess I felt him going over the side of the arm and I caught him around the belly just before he fell. I feel horrible!!! It's so hard to stay awake; I've even tried setting an alarm to check to see if he's done, and I just turn it off.
I guess lesson learned, and I won't be reclining back with LO anymore!
