I got out all my pump parts and bottles to wash and prep. I bought new nipples for the bottles. The instructions on the nipples said to wash in soapy water and boil for 10 minutes before first use to sanitize, so I cleaned and boiled everything. Now there is a nasty white mineral film on everything. I guess that's what I get for not using distilled water. With DS1 I borrowed my SIL's microwave steam sterilizer to clean before use and didn't have this problem.
Would you rewash everything or just use them?
Also, with DS1 I just handwashed all bottles and pump parts. I only steam sterilized once. What is your wsh routine like? Should I sterilize on a routine basis? If so what is the best way to avoid the icky mineral build up?
Re: Icky film on bottles ater boiling. How do you clean your bottles etc.
Right now our LO has thrush so we wash in hot soapy water and follow with steam cleaning in the microwave after every use. For the first use we boiled and washed in hot soapy water after that.
