TTC Check-In

Good Morning folks!

How is your/your partner's TTC journey progressing? Let us know where you're at in the process and how things are going.

**Reminder - If you have a BFP to post, please create a separate thread for everyone to see. Thank you!**

QOTW: Aside from TTC costs, what have you splurged on lately?

Me: 30  DW (aka C): 29

Together since 2/15/11 ~ Legally married in NY on 9/29/12

We've been working on baby #1 since July 2013 using Open ID donor sperm.  8 IUI attempts with 5 actual IUIs and one chemical pregnancy.  We have one fresh IVF cycle under our belts as well as a FET.  I have endometriosis and a uterine septum that was corrected via surgery in November 2013.

11/14/14 -  Second HSG shows that tubes are still clear and ute is looking good.

12/6/14 - Started BCPs in prep for IVF #2

12/22/14 - Saline u/s and endometrial scratch (All was clear and OUCH!)

1/2/15 - Began stimming for IVF #2

Re: TTC Check-In

  • Today i go for an HSG, Wed. we get the initial test results from our first RE appt, also have a obgyn and neurologist appt to get some more clearances. Next week, we go for another appt to recap where we are at... then we confirm or look for DS then we get moving! AF ETA is 5/13 so hopefully 5/29-5/30 we can IUI and then 2WW :)

  • I am 8 dpiui. I tested last night and this morning with Wondfos to make sure the Ovidrel is gone and it seems to be. Though I wanted to wait until after my birthday, I will probably start testing with FRERs tomorrow. I know 9 dpiui is early, but with my c/p, I got a positive in the late afternoon of 9 dpiui.
The progesterone hasn't been terrible, to my surprise. Every day is different, but any side effects have been nothing compared to what I was expecting.

I want to be hopeful, but I'm honestly not. I know it is way too early to feel like I'm out, but that's how I have been feeling for a few days. I think it is just a matter of not wanting to get my hopes up, etc. A lot of pregnancy related things have been going on in C's family. One, I am truly happy for, the others...just reminds me that this process is not "fair" for all. I just want a BFP, a healthy pregnancy and a healthy take home baby. That's it. I don't think that is asking for a whole lot.

Sorry for the downer post. I thought about not including all of that, but this is the reality of my process and journey at the moment. I'm slowly coming out of my bad mood today. Maybe I will just blame it all on the progesterone ;). Hopefully tomorrow morning will bring a squinter BFP!

QOTW: we splurged in March by taking our trip to Florida. I'm so glad we did! We also just splurged again and I bought tickets to see Aerosmith in July. We have to travel to Long Island, which is about 7 hours, but that is fine by me! They are my absolute favorite band!

It is Aerosmith summer!!   We are going too!   We are also going to Journey, and trust me, I am going to sing along - loudly - to every damn song.   I have been waiting 30 years for this show.  Also, I spent my teen years with a huge crush on Steve Perry (who looks like many women I would later date), so I am going to close my eyes and pretend he is still touring with the Band.

Our last big splurge was to see the off-Broadway performance of Hedwig and the Angry Itch.  Totally worth every penny.

I haven't been posting much lately since we are on an indefinite hold, but I check-in often and am cheering on all your good news and ohhhhhhhhhh and ahhhhhhhhhhhhing your bumps and babies.   Good luck to everyone in the TWW, or as they say in South Africa, "holding thumbs!"

SO got her visit from AF on Wednesday 15 dpiui. We were disappointed but we just keep reminding ourselves this is her first time trying and she has been on BC for about 2 years now. So her body is still getting used to that. RE still wants to go with another natural cycle, I was really hoping for a medicated cycle based on us originally being told that she had PCOS, two when she went for a cycle check due to no positive OPK as of CD15 her follie was only 15mm and she had a surge on CD17. I just feel it was a follie that was on the smaller side but I am not the doctor. He told us that her body is doing what it needs to do and her ovulation was confirmed with blood work no only a positive opk. We will start OPK Friday and if no positive by CD15 ultrasound and blood work. I am hoping the longer that she is off BC things start to look better for her. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

We only have one vial left from our donor so if this next cycle doesnt work we will be ordering a max of two more vials. Our insurance requires a minimum of 3 failed IUI cycles with a infertility diagnosis before they will allow for ivf (without a diagnosis proof 12 months of trying and min of 3 IUI cycles so for us that means 12 IUI cycles ughh) But now that I have a diagnosis and he stated that my SO has PCOS I am hoping for IVF to be approved soon then but of course hope more that we just get a BFP now instead of more BFN. Only time will tell.

QOTW: Aside from TTC costs, what have you splurged on lately? Our vacation was a huge splurge for us. We go on a full vacation maybe once every 4 years. We always go to cape cod in summer for a long weekend but going to FL and all the activities we did is a big splurge for us not used to doing all of that we are truly home bodies :)

Married in September 2010, started TTC journey November 2012

    Me-

    7 IUI- 2 CP- 2 BFN

RPL blood work 12/27, showed a balance translocation in chromosome 11;22

    Spouse-

    PCOS 4 IUI-4 BFN

New Plan: Reciprocal IVF, me as carrier wife's eggs. Just went through insurance and received partial approval, so my part will go through my IVF benefits and wife's part will be out of pocket. Now just finalizing finance plans to cover the oop costs. Doctors office is in process of moving to a new building so there are no IVF start ups until March/April 2015.

  • Hi everyone!  I'm waiting for AF right now.  I felt like shit this morning so I took my temperature wondering if it's dropped yet and I'd start to bleed today (if that happened it would be early - I'm not expecting it until Wednesday).  But nope, it was still high so I guess I just have a wicked case of PMS.  C makes fun of me for taking my temperature.  She calls it the "Amish method."  I tried to teach her the science behind it but she's being as bull-headed as a Tea Party republican facing the facts of global warming.  It goes in one ear and out the other.  Sigh.

Anyway, as soon as AF starts I can get this party started again so needless to say, I'm very much looking forward to her arrival this month.  After AF comes then I can get my CD3 ultrasound and blood work, then letrozole, then Follistim, trigger, and IUI (assuming I don't over-stim).  Woo hoo!  I have a good feeling about this next cycle :)

  • I guess this is a good time to introduce myself. My name is Lauren, my wife's name is Jaime. We are from Chicago and really have no one to talk to about all of this. We have been TTC since January and never really expected this situation to be this frustrating. I remember going into it thinking it would be frustrating but never could have imagined how it would feel until we actually were in the process. We have done 3 IUIs all BFN. 1st one was on Clomid, #2 and #3 were on Gonal F and all with trigger. After #2 we found out Jaime had several cysts and we had to sit a cycle out. Today she was supposed to go in for the beta for #3 but Saturday she got AF and well no need for beta. She went in for an ultra sound and she has 6 cysts!! We are really bummed out and just overwhelmed with frustration. Going into this the doctor stated she wanted to do natural cycles and that quickly went out the window and now this. I didnt expect it to work round 1 but I didn't expect all the bumps in the road either. So we have all decided IVF is the next best route because the doctor said the cysts are because she is not ovulating the way she should be. Sorry for the super depressing introduction haha! Hope you all are having a great Monday!

QOTW: we recently splurged on a new grill for our deck and Jaime is currently splurging at the mall trying to buy summer clothes!!

  • @Laurenblum - Welcome! I'm sorry that your journey has been frustrating and bumpy. You have come to a great place for support! I hope that IVF will be all that you need it to be.

I'm not sure if all of the pregnant and parenting folks read the TTC Check-In, so you might want to consider starting a new thread to introduce yourself. That way everyone can "meet" you and know your story. There are several folks here who have had luck with IVF. Don't hesitate to ask questions and jump right in!

  • We had final monitoring appointment today. We will Insem. On Thursay morning at 11:15. Things look GREAT so here is hoping! She has 6 eggs that look great. 4 in the lead and 2 that are smaller but will be mature by Thurs. He said.

Estridol levels checked today came back at 1135!!!! Which last time we tried they were at 534...so our numbers look better. Fx for a singleton or twins but PRAYING no more. Sarah and I had the reduction talk about multiples and I have MAJOR issues with that! So I'm hoping and praying we make the right choices for us and our family if we are put in that situation. I just want a healthy happy baby.

Splurge: NEW BED!!!! We went Sat and got a new amazing sleigh bed with storage in the footboard. It's a dark wood finish. We also got the new king size mattress for it as well. :)

    10 medicated IUI's (3 with injectables).
IUI #1 (medicated) Jan. 2013-BFP!!!!- Beta's didn't double, MTX shot for possible ectopic.
    8 IUI's between April 13-April 14 = BFN
IUI #10 and final before IVF, injectables May 2014- BFP!!!!  TWINS!!!!

7 week ultrasound showed 2 wonderful heartbeats!
8 weeks to the ER with vaginal bleeding while on vacations!  Diagnosed SubChorionic Hemorrhage.  Babies are both great.
9 week ultrasound showed both babies are still great.
  • Got a bfn today, but it's only 10dpo. C is treating me like she's seeing pregnancy signs from me but won't say outright. I'm cautiously hopeful but trying to prime myself if this isn't our cycle. If this isn't the cycle then we have to decide on another natural cycle or to take the med challenge.
Splurge- We went to a new/used tack sale on Saturday and picked up some gear for the horses. Live auctions are a blast and it was a fun crowd.
  • We are at CD54 right now. K goes in Thursday for a blood test to see what is up with her crazy body. We posted something on TTGP board and the women over there are ignorant. So I'm really REALLY hoping that she is pregnant so I can go back to my posting and tell them what I think of them. K talked to her mom and she appears to have a lot of the same early symptoms that her mom had with all 5 of her kids. So long story short, we will know for sure by the end of the week.

Splurge: we went to Niagara Falls this weekend. Planning trip to Tennessee for July or August. Paying off debts. Trying to find better housing.

    Welcome to @Laurenblum

Hugs to everyone who is feeling a little low right now. I have a feeling we are going to hear good news from someone in this group soon.

QOTW: The bathroom remodel I am planning is a splurge itself, but then I went ahead and decided to go with the heated floors!

  • We are in the TWW for our 3rd try. DW had the largest follie yet, and my wife ovulated right inbetween the back-to-back IUIs. The doc did an ultrasound before each and the follicle was still there when we did the first insemination and gone when we did the second, 24 hours later. FX for all!

  • Called the RE to figure out what was the next step to start trying again.  When I was last there it was to call on the 1st day of my period and then again when I got a positive opk. They said I needed to schedule a follow up with my doctor before starting again which is scheduled for May 7th.  Reva wants to try again in July I want to go for it in June but if the doctor orders additional testing it may end up being July after all.  I also got a call from my OB today appearently my last blood work showed I still had pregnancy hormone in my system and they should have followed me to 0 but someone on there end dropped the ball and I knew nothing of this until today so I have to go in tomorrow for blood work to make sure my betas are back to 0.

  • Sorry this is so late:

DW is on 3 vials of Menopur, and a 200/225 of Gonal-F.  They are anticipating retrieving around 20+ eggs.  We are going in tomorrow morning to do a status check with estimated retrieval on May 1.

It is a little overwhelming and also very exciting to be this close.  It reminds me of being pregnant: every day is a step closer to the goal.

QOTW: We are "almost splurgers."  We almost bought ourselves a nice espresso machine for our anniversary, but didn't.  We almost bought a rad Yuba Mundo bike, but didn't.  I almost bought two dozen newborn prefold diapers, but stopped.  I suppose the big splurge lately was that we are going camping and rented a campsite.  We are really, really looking forward to a weekend of camping!

  • We have a dates for everything now! Laire goes on BC on CD 1, 2 or 3 on her next cycle, then on June 1st will start Synarel. We are looking at having egg retrieval on July 13th and transferring on July 18th. Its starting to feel, well, real, now that we know when everything will be happening, and it's a little overwhelming.

QOTW: Laire got promoted to Senior Architect yesterday, so she went and bought herself a brand new Toyota Yaris hybrid. Personally, my biggest splurge was on Tessa, our Jack Russell puppy we got in March, and she's absolutely gorgeous.
