how was everyone's easter Not-PAIF-Related

hey everyone, how was everybody's easter ( if you celebrate )?? or how is your passover going ( if you celebrate ) just thought i'd do a GTKY post

we went to my MIL (as always) and played HEADS UP--i guess its this new game kind of like HEADBANDZ that Ellen Degeneres is promoting, my MIL loves her, we also sent a mailer out to the extended family once we reached 11 weeks as our pregnancy announcement. .

DH and I went out for an early dinner alone as his family went out to a late lunch without us and my family is 3+ hrs away. I was so upset, but mostly because I've been on modified bed rest and just wanted more time out of the house. lol The cheesecake we shared for dessert helped me feel better!

@doubleportion i would have gotten a cheesecake to go too (hands you virtual cheesecake) feel better  girlie. . sorry youre easter was lackluster, my family is oot too

Passover here - we went to my folks (an hour and a half flight) for seders and got to spend time with them, my aunt & uncle who live there, and my little brother and his wife and their 3 kids who were also visiting.  Good times.  We came back home mid-week.  Today was great - DH and I walked 2.5 miles to his Mom's house, chatted with her for maybe half an hour, then walked back home.  It was beautiful out and the walk felt great!

@DoublePortion - glad the cheesecake made things a little better

haha thanks @doubleportion i wanted it to be something like "after 3 long years we are finally expecting" but DH nixed that idea, and we procrastinated. so we ended up doing walgreens like 4 days before i had to send it out haha. .

@marnief that walk sounds amazing, i want to be outside so bad, but im out for like 10 minutes and want to nap, ive been riding my bike to the next door neighbors house ( our bff's ) just because i miss it so much. .

We had a great day. My sinuses were wrecking me Saturday & Sunday morning (we had to bail on Saturday plans with in laws). I was able to rally and make the hour drive to my moms. It was a blast playing with my 2 1/2 year old niece and seeing everyone. My sisters belly is starting to show so we got a couple of cute belly to belly shots of our babies playing (corny I know) & one adorable one of my niece with a hand on each of our bellies playing with her cousins! She is going to be a great big cousin. All day she would come up to us & pet our bellies. When DH & I got home we curled up on the couch & saw the Three Amigos were on. All around great day!

I'm going to be Debbie Downer, but my Easter kind of stunk. I had asked my dad (who lives up the street) to come over, and he only agree once I mentioned I was planning to make potatoes. When he showed up, he was really distant and after the meal was over, he quickly left. He's had some influences in his life since my mom passed away that is pulling him away from me, and his unborn granddaughter and it's just painful to watch it over and over again. Yesterday was a reminder and I had a good heart to heart with my MIL who IS involved and happy for us. Wish I had the greeting card kind of holidays that I always dreamed I'd have when I got pregnant, but unfortunately there's a new hole in them, I'm learning.

It's okay @liz4paws‌ my relationship with my mom is terrible, she didn't even call on Easter, I got a text from my dad, so that's the extent of it. .i immerse myself in my inlaws because they are so invested in us. Hopefully your next holiday will be better, I'm sorry about your Easter. .

@{{{hugs}}} to you, @liz4paws...glad your MIL is there for you.  I hope the family you chose - DH, MIL, friends - can help fill the hole you are feeling right now.

@liz4paws, I can empathize. My dad passed and it was really rough on my mom for a while causing a bit of a strain in our relationship. We went to counseling for a while. It's not perfect (I don't think it ever was --  I was really close to my dad), but it's definitely better. How long ago did your mom pass if you don't mind me asking? I'm sorry you're not getting the support and love you need from your dad right now. It's really hard when you only have one parent left and really need to have that emotional support from them.

I'm so sorry about your dad. My mom passed away in Dec 2011. My dad also deals with bipolar disorder and I don't think he's being properly medicated for it and refuses to have his medication evaluated. There are just lots of crappy factors but I'm trying to remind myself he's sick and it does help me feel better. I hope you and your mom are doing better. hugs
