Gas hurting my LO?

So, we definitely went through the early stages where gas was really upsetting to my LO (the first three months, maybe?). That period of time consisted of him being so upset in the morning that we would do all sorts of things to relieve him (bicycle legs, tummy rubs, laying him on his left side, gas drops) and I thought we were out of this phase because he hasn't woken up with gas pain in the morning like those first few months.

Now, every so often he turns so red like he is trying to poop or get gas out, and sometimes nothing comes from it! He'll grunt and turn red and scrunch up, and tense up his little body. This doesn't happen often, but is so upsetting when it does occur. This has to be gas, right? Gas that hurts his little tummy? He is EBF and has had solids a handful of times but I've never noticed a correlation. We still use the gas drops when he seems pretty uncomfortable, but I am thinking, could there be some sort of underlying problem with digestion? Any advice? Tips? Tricks? Thanks for reading!

Re: Gas hurting my LO?

  • We've been dealing with some painful gas too, and I think it was a combination of feeding him too much solids in one sitting and my experimenting with dairy. I don't really have any tricks though, wish I did! We did gas drops and leg bicycling. Sometimes it would help to lay him over my knees and pat his back or butt. Sorry! Wish I could be of more help!

  • I have noticed an increase in gas with the tooth that is coming through. My theory is she uses her paci more to comfort her.
