My mom, brother, and I (brother's g/f is expecting) were discussing baby names tonight and my mom mentioned that she knows a few people who work for her that named their sons Hemi. After the truck engine. I can't fucking take it. X_X
Hemi is a legit Maori name here in NZ, so it wouldn't throw me to hear it.
But if it has some other connection to a truck where you are, and that is why they chose it, then yeah that's not so great,
I was just about to say this. Pretty sure most people in NZ know someone named Hemi.
If we listed all the more common Maori names on here, we would be greeted with so many "what the fucks" and "what is wrong with people". But most of them are actually beautiful names.
Also, hi fellow New Zealander!
I know what you mean. It's not that the name sounds bad, it's that they named their kid after a vehicle motor.
