Hi ladies- I'm a little embarrased to be asking this but do any of your DD's rub on their car seat belt? DD started doing this a few weeks ago- when I ask her to stop she gets mad & starts to cry. She is 18 month & I read it is pretty normal I'm just looking for advice.

I haven't experienced that in particular but my son loves his penis and will touch it as much as he can get his hands on it and rubs whatever is in his hands on it, too. For now we just ignore it or distract him. When he is a little older we will explain that it is something he should do in private and not in front of other people. He doesn't understand that concept right now so for now we just distract him as much as possible.

I have boys but it's incredibly normal for both boys and girls.  From her perspective, you are just taking away something she's enjoying, same as a toy or a cookie and she's reacting as such.  Talk to her about private areas and private time but the car seat is a gray area because she very likely would feel that's "private" time since she's alone back there and no one can see her.  I'd probably let it go on for a while until or unless it actually becomes something that others can see her doing, kwim?

DD does this every time we are in the car seat.  At first I thought it was odd but then realized what she is doing.  I hope it stops soon because she does it a lot.  I am not concerned though.  It is just a phase thing I guess.
