10 digital dollars says she was talking about Caeden. Anyway, OP, Kaydence is not a legit variant, just because YOU didn't make it up. There is no possible way linguistically for this to be a legitimate variation. So you are just wrong about that. Sometimes a person is just wrong, and when that happens the graceful thing to do is acknowledge it. If you don't mind giving your kid a name whose spelling produces an error message in the brain, then I think that's too bad (because your kid might mind), but it's your choice.
I am pretty sure she is talking about me. You want to bring it, OP? >:/
I don't know who she's talking about. None of the names in the siggys are bad. They're definitely not as bad as fucking Gentry and Kaydence.
I have to be the one to point out that the GOT character is Gendry, not Gentry.
Gentry comes across as kind of snobby to me because it's talking about a social class of people who didn't have to work but were a step down from Nobility. I picture a southern Frat guy type. On the other hand, I have seen the name Gentry on girls lately too.
For your boy name, I would go with Wayne. It's a family name and nothing screems more 'Southern/Country' than that, even more so than Gentry. All I think of when I see Gentry is Montgomery Gentry. Someone else posted a a great suggestion: Rhett. I have the best of both worlds: Everett Wayne.
Out of your choices, I just don't understand why you wouldn't want to use Wayne as a 1st name? It's a fabulous name! Strong, a little country, and not too popular. By far the best option in my opinion.
As far as your girl name, it's very lovely but I would agree with the board, go with the traditional spelling.
How dare you all come on here to a baby names site and actually critique names!! Aren't we supposed to be commending her euneek spelling and telling her she's a genius for taking a perfectly good name and cutesy-ing it up like that?
Ok but for realsies:
Carter and Cadence, OP. FFS. Put on your big girl panties and take the advice with a grain of salt. We're legit telling you what people will be saying behind your back when your kid is born. We aren't criticizing YOU. We are giving you real advice about baby names because....dun dun DAH dun....that's what this board is for.
