Sanitizing used diapers

A friend gave me her stash of prefolds. I boiled the NB batch, but lots of people told me that bleach would have been fine. Couple questions:

1. Cold, Warm or Hot Wash

2. With or without detergent

3. How many rinses.

4. Chlorine bleach, non-chlorine bleach or Oxy-Clean?

I have a non-HE washer

Chlorine bleach for sure. Idk if the rest really matters much.

I bought some used prefolds a while back and recently prepped them with my stash. For the used prefolds I used 1/4 cup of chlorine bleach in a hot wash with an extra rinse.

Then, because I had to prep all my new stuff too, I threw them in (before drying) with the new stuff so they could get the benefit of an additional wash/rinse to make sure the bleach was fully rinsed out. I don't know if that was necessary, but I had to prep the new stuff by washing it 3 times anyway, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to throw the used ones in for the first prep wash.

I have a top loader, I don't know if that makes a difference either.

Some say you don't need to sanitize.

I wash like normal and add in a little chlorine bleach. And rinse a few times extra.
