bad mommy alert- burned and black eye :(

Awe, poor Jake...last night he learned the meaning of HOT-OUCH. He knows he's not supposed to touch something when we say "no, hot" and he has always done very well with it. He helps me cook EVERY night, but last night he didn't listen very well. He was standing there helping me, and put his hand out, looked at me and said "hot? hot." then touched the hot pan with the back of his hand... he cried instantly and said "HOT, Owie, hot!" over and over! My heart was aching hearing him say that and seeing him holding his hand for the next 20 minutes. He let me put a cold pack on it for a little while, then wanted me to kiss it every 5 minutes, which I did. He has three little blister-white areas on the top of his fingers/knuckles.

He also has a black eye. My Grandma came down to stay here with Jake while daycare was closed on New Years eve, apparently he climbed up on the couch and grabbed his bowl of Yogo's...lost his balance or something and bonked his head/eye on the banister. Now he has a black eye. Ugh! So, today I took him to daycare and filled them in on his recent injuries-afraid they'll report me to CPS, but they said "awe, he had a typical Jake day...he's so accident prone-total boy!" LOL

    Aw! Poor baby! Burns are sooo painful too!

    Today, we took Preston to the mall to play in the little play area. He has never been a real "dare devil" type, but today he was and climbed up on the very top of the big teddy bear and slid all the way down to the floor on his stomach (head first). He bit his bottom lip and now has a cut and a big swollen lip. Never cried though... crazy kid.

    poor guy!  We do the "hot" here too.  In fact, when I go to open the stove, Blaire just runs out of the kitchen.

    me too! But if he takes after DH and I... we're in for a LOOONG ride and many trips to the ER
