What do you think needs to happen before people start accepting that Merica should be more like European countries...as far as healthcare and general empathy for others?

@nryan55 and I need to become pres/VP, obvs. J/k. I don't know, but I fear every day that something like the stock market crash and the depression might have to happen. Historically, events like that have had to occur before real sea change can happen. The New Deal after the depression. National health care came about in England after the bombing of London in WWII. Witness how the country reacted after 9/11. Sometimes it takes a major catastrophe to 1. remind people of how fragile their way of life is, and realize 'there, but for the grace of God, go I'. 2. Cause such major destruction that the affects are felt at even the highest levels of society.

NO, and in fact, I had them and my adenoid out at the same time when I was in the first grade AND they let me take them HOME with me in a JAR, which I kept under the kitchen sink for years and took to school for show and tell. #fuckedup #wholetslittlekidstakehomemedicalwaste
Ok, gotta leave work now. I will log back on at 8pm central time to wrap up any remaining questions. I think this points lead will stand! Good work, O13!!!!!

Do you still have the jar?
No, my mom finally threw them out when we moved in 1990.
What's the most expensive thing you have spent money on, not including something you've had to take a loan out for?
My sewing machine, it was somewhere around a grand. That's the most expensive thing I've paid cash for, I've put more expensive things on credit cards.
Hardest part of being a mom, despite trying to prepare for it?
Realizing how little time I have for myself, and how much time I used to spend doing other things. I used to come home on a Friday and some weekends I would literally stay in my sewing room from sunup to sundown the entire weekend. Or I'd work out in the yard all weekend long. I kind of miss that.
Will you teach me how to sew??!! ;-) ok gosh how I wish I knew how! I don't know of it's been asked, but how did you pick up his amazing talent you have?

Well, basic sewing I learned when I was 14. My first job was teaching little kids how to sew at a sewing school. I helped with the classes all summer, and at the end of the summer I got to take home a sewing machine. Then a couple of years ago, I fell in love with all the amazing fabrics they have now, and I wanted to sew, but I am terrible at sewing garments, so I got into quilts. Everything I learned about sewing quilts, I learned online from websites and youtube.
