IUI and clomid ?

So my husband and I are doing our third round of IUI with donor sperm next week, but this time we are boosting things up with clomid. I'm 28 and have no problems ovulating!!! I'm a little anxious about this upping my chances for twins/multiples. Anyone have any advice or EXPERIENCE they could share, or maybe a crystal ball to tell me what to expect if this DOES turn into a BFP?!

Re: IUI and clomid ?

  • My twins were conceived the cycle I took clomid.  I took 50mg CD5-CD9.  The O pain was intense, I was almost doubled over in pain (lasted maybe 30 minutes).  I was on it due to a short LP, my OB thought my ovulation just wasn't strong enough.  I got a BFP at 9dpo (very light) and again (darker) at 10dpo.  Around 7w we had an u/s to check how many LO's there were and were shocked to see 2 babies with heartbeats.  Of course we knew there was a chance but we're always the rule, never the exception to the rule so we were expecting 1 baby.  The pregnancy was treated like a normal singleton pg until the 20w mark, at that time I started having more monitoring for growth, make sure my cervix was closed, started doing NST's around 30w.  The chance of twins is around 10%, the chance for trips+ I think is either 1% or 3%.  Good luck!

  • Well, I had my IUI Wednesday, then that night my O pain was pretty bad! Lasted most of the day yesterday too. Feeling much better today!! Let's hope that cramping means it's working!
