Cloth Diapering

Hello and Wazoodle DIY diaper kits

Hello CD board!  I'm a semi-regular poster in my BMB (August 2014), and I will be a first time mama. I live in Seattle and I intend to cloth diaper but am just starting to look into different options. I am a semi-competent sewer and I like the idea of making at least some of my little one's diapers.

I'm wondering if anyone here has experience wiht DIY diaper making kits from Wazoodle, such as these: https://wazoodle.com/index.php/diapersupplies/dss-kits/dss-precutkit/lgb-bamboo-diaper-kit.html

If so, do you have any feedback? Do you like them? Were they relatively easy to assemble? Are there any diaper covers you've found work well with this style of diaper?

Looking forward to learning from you all!

Re: Hello and Wazoodle DIY diaper kits

  • Loving your signature gif!!! Is it just me, or does the dude look like Martin Lawrence?
I haven't tried the Wazoodle kits, but I did order some precut soaker blanks last time. They were not cut exactly the same as the photo b/c the outside corners were not rounded. I'm not sure that description makes sense, but I only mention it b/c it makes me a tad nervous to try a whole diaper kit in case those aren't cut consistently either. The reviews are also a little mixed. Personally I'm going to try making some fitteds out of prefolds first. There are lots of tutorials, and I already have a big prefold stash.

  • @unaveragejane thank you! It's dance .gif month over on August 2014 and I found this one from an absolutely amazing list of .gis from the 1988 national Aerobic Championships.  Yes, that dude the  totally looks like Martin Lawrence. To be honest, I had a hard time deciding between that .gif and this one (something about that hair/ head flip at the end! Amazing!).

Thanks for the advice about making fitteds out of prefolds. That sounds like a better route to go- also, it looks like many fitteds don't cost that much more than the diaper kits. It seems like a lot of work just to save $2 per diaper. Maybe I'll just buy lots of prefolds as well as some Workhorses and use that to start my newborn stash. Thanks again for your input!

There's a pretty good GMD B/S/T group on Facebook. If you keep tabs on the page for a few weeks, you can sometimes get some good deals.
