Trouble TTC

**MFI Weekly Check-in**

Welcome! It's time to check-in for those of use dealing with MFI on our TTC journey.

We welcome everyone but mostly we are dealing with low count, motility, morphology or all three.Male infertility is a mysterious world filled with questions no one, including REs, urologists, acupuncturists or anyone else seem to have the answers to.Any treatment suggested is a coin toss for success and a 3 month wait for a fresh batch of swimmers. Most of us are told the only answer is IUI or IVF w/ICSI.The purpose of this group is to support each other through shared experiences and to share any info we can because the more informed we are the better. We will have a check in every Thursday/Friday. Welcome and baby dust to all!

Anyone new, please intro w/name (if you want), MFI issues and where you are in your curent cycle! Thanks!

HUGS TO ALL THAT NEED THEM <3 FX TO ALL IN TWW!! <3

IUI #1 was a bust. Currently awaiting the dot to show up so I can start another cycle. RE is tuning down the follistim from 75iu to 50iu so I don't overstim and get OHSS again. Frustrating part was that DH numbers went down for our IUI. He's had 3 prior SA- 23 mil/ml, 26 mil/ml, and 22 mil/ml. (I think it was 22...) Anywho, IUI was 21 mil and we only got 8 million post wash..... And this was with TWO successive samples!!! Argh. The stupid vitamins and supplements didn't do anything, he was lower!!!!

QOTW: I would probably live in San Fran or Hawaii or Punta Cana.

Today is CD8, w/ IUI#3 on Sunday. I already posted abt whether to cancel or not bc I have 4 follicles that will mature at the same time (2 at 16.5, 2 at 17.5). I think we're going to go for it though. My lining increased to 6.8mm, so I'm getting there. However my estrodial level is at 261 and I don't think that sounds good at all, but I'm sure its related to my thin lining? Anyone know?

QOTD: I would move to any city in Hawaii in heartbeat. I'm not scared of getting island fever. At the end of our honeymoon we were asking all the locals how we can get jobs lol.

So it is confirmed my husband has zero motility. On Monday we found out that he actually has a blockage which is why there is none getting through. There is nothing that can be done to clear the blockage because they don't know how to clear it or what is causing it. Our urologist said that it could naturally unblock over time or could get worse.

However, 15% of his sperm is viable which is good. We are going to do IVF with ICSI hopefully in May/June and see how it goes.

QOTD: Probably San Diego since it was so nice and warm and sunny, which is the opposite of my current location where it snowed yesterday.

Nothing new here.  Still trying on our own, take 2 with acupuncture.  He's trying some different points, more points and bigger needles this cycle - so we'll see.

Also, I'm getting a repeat HSG next cycle - my doctor thought it would be a good idea.

  • Had IUI#2 on Tuesday. Motility went up from 4% to 5%, but total post-wash count was our lowest yet (2.2 million.) The letrozole doesn't seem to be helping. I am prepared for a BFN this time. One of the REs (not our usual but the one who did the IUI) says we need to start thinking IVF. We'll need to research and save a while, anyway, so for now I guess we are in limbo. We'll probably do at least one more IUI at DH's request, not sure if we'll do that next month or wait a bit. I need to update my siggy with more specifics, but have been lazy. Soon. • We just had IUI #8 today and this will be our last before IVF with ICSI. The count was good at 37 mil but only 39% motility and 3.5ml. So we only ended up with 8.5 million post wash but with100% motility. It seems like we really lose a lot in the wash. I didn't get an US or to trigger because I had my surge before my appointment so I have no idea what was going on in there. That makes me a little nuts! Anyway, I'm not sure if we are going to start BCP next month for IVF or take a break for a cycle first. I want to jump right in but I kind of think my body needs a rest. I was freaking out (again) about turning 35 in August but my RE reassured me that my numbers all look great and it will be fine if I take a month off. I know logically that nothing is going to happen all of a sudden on my birthday to decrease my fertility but it still worries me.

  • Hey! I am new to this MFI group check in. I am getting my second IUI tomorrow (hopefully assuming he doesnt miss the cup or have horrendous numbers) This time around I took some Clomid and did all the monitoring at home. If this IUI is a bust we are thinking of proceeding with variococele surgery since the insurance covers that and not IUI.

    Pregnancy Ticker

  • We are just doing TI and waiting for our next SA. The waiting is the hardest part I swear! We have our SA on May 9th and we meet with the RE again May 12th. So I am very anxious for the results and to hear what the RE recommends.

I think I would still choose to live where I live. I loved the weather in the Dominican Republic and Mexico, and I visited some amazing places in Italy but I don't think I would like to live any of those places full time.

  • @MissEm15‌ - 5 mature follicles.... My first IUI, I had 20'ish. However, there were only 5 that were 14mm and higher. The rest ranged from 13mm and lower.... The other thing was he said that "it was possible" to have eggs our of all 5, but he thought only the 2 highest would release mature egg.
