Last night was probably one of the worst nights of sleep for everyone at my house. My 7 month old who has always slept in his crib in his room since day one, had been waking up every hour. I've noticed a pattern for the past couple of weeks of him waking every 2-3 hours during the night which I was ok with tending to his needs, comforting him etc, but I know this is not normal and husband and I want to cure this problem before it gets worse. We haven't tried any sleep training methods yet, but was thinking that maybe this is the time. My husband has a 5 day weekend this Easter weekend and I thought it would be a great time to try something. LO has been BF and I know he is not hungry during those awakenings in the night. (Last night was eight times since bedtime) I think his daytime naps are normal, 1.5 hour in the morning and another in the afternoon. He wakes in the night crying and sometimes stays up for 1-2 hours! So many questions run through my mind - is this a phase, is it night separation, is he beginning to get his days and nights confused, is his teething ( he only has 2 teeth ) Looking for any positive suggestions on sleep training. I choose to not use the Ferber method, although I know it has worked for so many people, but I would only try this as a last resort. Or has anyone come up with their own training methods? One thing I did try last night on two of the eight times he awoke, was to sit beside his crib and rub his tummy. I repeatedly gave a loud, brief "shush" when he started to fuss and then repeated the words, "night night sleep" which seemed to calm him down, but then he was up again within 45 minutes. Open to any positive ideas. Thanks Ladies!!
