CDing moms - may be a stupid question re: thrush

We have quite a few CDing mamas here so I thought I'd see if you guys know the answer before posting on the CD board.

At LOs one month check up the doc confirmed she has oral thrush. She has no diaper rash or signs of thrush down below. We're treating with nystatin.

My (possibly) stupid question is this - even if she's not showing signs of infection below should I take any precautions with our diapers? She's been in disposables since her appointment just because I wasn't sure.

  • I would treat the diapers for yeast, just in case. Treating them depends a lot on what type of diaper you're using.

We are using mainly BG and Fuzzibunz pockets. Bleach wash with lots of rinses?

  • I would bleach (use cold water to not break down the bleach). Then after that I would just do a normal wash with detergent and whatever your normal number of rinses includes.

  • You could put coconut oil on the bum to help.  It's a natural anti-fungal.  I think that if there are no signs, then don't strip your diapers just yet...just my opinion though - always do what feels right to you!

  • Thanks ladies. I'll hold off on stripping for now. She really has no signs of yeast anywhere else besides her mouth.
