Cloth Diapering

You've inspired me!

All this talk of flats made me want to try it. I guarantee I won't do this much and there is no way I'm hand washing but I had to try putting one on. I bought some Walmart FST's and they've only been washed a couple times so we will see how it goes. I used the airplane fold that was linked a bit ago.

  • It looks so nice and neat on your babe!  I bought some FSTs and tried the oragami fold.  It looks a hot mess because the wings are so long.  I have to do some tucking.

  • My mom wanted to just tie the wings together. She couldn't figure out the snappi.

  • Well, he wore it for about 3 hours last night with no issues.  It easily held his pee and could probably have held twice the amount.  Of course, that's not his heavy pee period of the day.  I'm thinking about trying one overnight tonight with a hemp doubler since I have 4 more folded and ready to go.  I really like how trim it was.  I probably could have snapped his Thirsties cover back down a rise if I tucked the flat in after.

At my local cd store I was told you could just tie it. I might try one day down the road but DH is all about wanting to be changing bsby too and prefolds were enough for now lol

  • I think flats might actually be easier than prefolds to put on.  They are more "flexible".  It's the folding part that takes the time and effort. Plus I don't have a good place to lay the ready to go folded flats.

I held off on prefolds and flats at first because DH was scared of them.  Now a pad folded flat tucked in a cover is his favorite diaper.  I doubt he would have liked them during the NB poo days when you need to snappi though.

I feel like untying the flat would be the difficult part about that. But I would totally do it in a pinch. A tied up t-shirt plus a small garbage bag for an emergency roadside diaper? Sounds like a plot point in a tv show where the crunchy hippie is the hero.
A crunchy hippie would never have a small garbage bag.  They would have to use their hemp knapsack as an emergency cover.  Duh.

Shoot, you're right! This is why we would make a perfect screen writing duo. But really, maybe the crunchy hippie should be replaced by a scrappy, resourceful crack baby turned street kid that the protagonist must grudgingly turn toward for help.
Are we rewriting "Shoot Em Up"?  Can the guy still get the carrot through the head please?
