Why ask?

Anyone else ever experience this?  H just asked me for an update on a family matter - his family, no less.  He had to have known the answer wouldn't be short and sweet.  He tuned out to the point where I asked him if I lost him.  He said no.  Yeah, not buying it.

I hate when that happens. I usually tell H not to bother asking me next time if he's not interested in listening.
