DS uses Avent pacis and I got some 6-18mo size as gifts. How do you know when to move up? Does it matter? I totally forget when I changed with DD. (She used Avent too.)
Hmm...I would move up when it wouldn't stay in his mouth, like, he wouldn't suck on it.
Yeah maybe I will wait til then or until he gets some teeth bc I noticed the part closest to the plastic is shaped differently on the bigger size.
I just sterilized one and let him try it. He sucked on it fine but then I noticed his shirt was wet from drool after he had it in for a while so maybe it's too big?? I guess it's just trial and error maybe?
So far the bigger sizes DS spits out. He's ok with the sizes up to 6 months but the 6 month + ones he just won't hold in. You can try it and if LO spits it out then you know. That's how we do it.
She only likes the hospital kind (gum drop I think? It's really early and I'm sleep deprived) which are all the same size, but I've found the older ones are harder and she isn't as fond of them so I keep buying the 0-3 month.
A pediatric dentist on my first bmb said that you should use the age guidelines in pacis. They are different sizes and a slightly different textures as the get older which is important as their palate is growing. I just buy the next size up whe it's time to replace.
I keep buying 0-3 because I tried the 3-6 and the pacifier was harder and DS didn't like it.
I buy the soothies BTW.
This - but now he is taking those 0-3 months and folding them and sticking the whole thing in his mouth. Ummm, you are doing it wrong baby! Kind of scary. So now I'm trying different brands, because he isn't a fan of the Soothies 3month+.
Re: Pacifier size?
We kept losing his 0-6m ones, so when I bought more, I bought the next size up.
