I had my membranes swept yesterday afternoon at my OB appointment. I woke up at 3:20 am this morning with sharp cramps. It felt like I had to go to the bathroom. I walked around trying to soothe the pain for 20 minutes and my water broke and gushed all over the floor (movie style!). I woke my husband. We both showered and he loaded the car.
By the time I was ready to leave for the hospital at 5 am I was having regular, very strong contractions. We checked into the hospital at 6:00 and I was already 8 cm dilated.
Andrew James was born at 7:19 weighing 7 lbs. 1 oz and 21.25 inches long
I'm so in love. And count my blessings my labor was only 4 hours! As a FTM, I expected many more hours of labor. I'm so happy my experience was positive and that I had the unmediated birth I desired.
Attached is a pic of us two hours after birth and a family pic of the first bath!
