o.m.g.

exactly a year ago, to the day and TIME, we were packing our bags to head to the hospital because I was in labor with M

Every milestone comes too fast. In about 6 months ds1 will be 18 years old and a year from now he will be graduating from high school and dd will be graduating from college and possibly getting married. It does not feel like it has been that long since ds was leaving elementary school and going off to middle school.....but that was 2008..

@Mandmeesh‌ !! A year bfing is a huge accomplishment! I'm not there yet but plan to keep at it until either myself or ds decides we no longer want to.

    PS happy bday M. :)

PPS the world health organization recommends bfing until 2... So that's my "lose goal".

  • @YellowLily2013‌ exclusive bfing until 2? More nutrition is needed, right? I need to just go over to the website. Lol thinking out loud. :)

No no no... Not exclusive. Well other nutrition, maybe exclusive for milk...

I figured most kids from 1 - 2 were typically down to just morning and night nursing. Ahhh I don't know... I'm not there yet.

  • Yay! Happy anniversaries :) G kinda weaned himself... I suppose you could say we did "don't offer, don't refuse." And it's like he just decided he was good. He might have kept his night time round if my supply had kept up, though (even with pumping regularly, my supply disappeared almost as soon as G started to get most of his nutrition from foods).

  • Yay! Happy birthday M! Maybe it's different since I'm pregnant, but since DS got over his stomach bug and we got home from vacation, I've been making sure to offer him snacks in addition to his meals. We've done BLW. He'll nurse morning and night still, and his nap schedule is still fluctuating. But if we're home, he'll nurse at nap time too. I'm not sure how much milk he's getting tho. Sometimes he'll drink his cow's milk, sometimes not. I try not to worry. And our pedi said WCM isn't necessary, and 2% is the new recommendation.
  • Happy Birthday, M! <:-P

  • 2% is the new rec? My mom said she was told to give me 2% milk when she weaned me at 6 months!

This is my first time BF and I have no timeline. I am just going to go with the flow. Although I will have to defend myself because family is already telling me 6 months is enough and BF a toddler is "weird".

    Happy birthday M!

Quick google search: https://www.webmd.com/children/news/20080711/baby-milk-recommendations-changed Idk... I found it amusing that the info sheet they gve us at each well visit still said WCM. But I was told 2%.

    1) That article is from 2008
    2) It's for babies with risk of obesity

  • Didn't mean to sidetrack the thread... With DS still BF, I guess I don't worry about the 2%/WCM. I was just saying what my pedi told me. Which looking online I can't find a whole lot for not using WCM before 2yrs. I have wondered about it all since it doesn't seem like anyone else was told 2%...
  • It's only been the first day in to toddlerhood and nursing M is super gross now @Into+the+Kitty‌ ;)
