Aww ((hugs)) mama! Sadly it goes even faster from now till the first day of Kindergarten.
Every milestone comes too fast. In about 6 months ds1 will be 18 years old and a year from now he will be graduating from high school and dd will be graduating from college and possibly getting married. It does not feel like it has been that long since ds was leaving elementary school and going off to middle school.....but that was 2008..

That's what I did. Around 16 months I started "don't offer, don't refuse." Then I got a stomach virus and got really sick, and it was Christmas so she was busy playing with her cousin, and then it was just... Over. She asked a couple of times and I let her, but I was 4 months pg by that time and I don't think there was any milk. If there was, it wasn't much. It was sad, but not traumatic for either of us. Which I guess is best case scenario. We did start offering sippies of whole cows milk at school and at dinner.

Have you ever read the alpha parent? There is a breast feeding time line I like to read and remind myself of all the benefits I'm giving ds.. And plan to give ds!

A still got the majority of her nutrition from breastmilk until around 18 months, I want to say. We did BLW and she would eat, but not a whole lot. We pretty much just followed her cues, and her ped was always happy with both her nutrition and development. She's been doing morning, nap, and night since around 20 months and seems to have just dropped her nap request in the past week, but I don't know if circumstances have been dictating that or if she's really done with that session.
Be careful nursing a toddler, though. I hear it's gross.
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste,
It all revolves around you.
time flies, I have to remind myself daily to stop and take everything in. They grow up so fast its scary. Happy labor anniversary to you and happy almost birthday to M. I hope to make it breastfeeding until he's done as well. Congrats on a great accomplishment.
Yay! Happy anniversaries G kinda weaned himself... I suppose you could say we did "don't offer, don't refuse." And it's like he just decided he was good. He might have kept his night time round if my supply had kept up, though (even with pumping regularly, my supply disappeared almost as soon as G started to get most of his nutrition from foods).
Yay! Happy birthday M!
Maybe it's different since I'm pregnant, but since DS got over his stomach bug and we got home from vacation, I've been making sure to offer him snacks in addition to his meals. We've done BLW. He'll nurse morning and night still, and his nap schedule is still fluctuating. But if we're home, he'll nurse at nap time too. I'm not sure how much milk he's getting tho. Sometimes he'll drink his cow's milk, sometimes not. I try not to worry. And our pedi said WCM isn't necessary, and 2% is the new recommendation.
2% is the new rec? My mom said she was told to give me 2% milk when she weaned me at 6 months!
This is my first time BF and I have no timeline. I am just going to go with the flow. Although I will have to defend myself because family is already telling me 6 months is enough and BF a toddler is "weird".

1) That article is from 2008 2) It's for babies with risk of obesity
Also, it pisses me off. The recommendation, that is. I REALLY hate this ongoing idea that all fats are created equal. In the recommendation there is a quote that says, "But children now are getting too much fat from other sources." Um... So, how about not giving them fat from other sources and still give them the whole food with all it's various fats and nutrients? Since this was directed at kids who are at risk of obesity, I'm assuming that the doctors are assuming that the rest of their diet isn't that good to begin with, so why is milk the culprit? Also many studies have shown that dietary fat =/= body fat. In fact it can increase satiety and decrease appetite. I actually love nonfat milk and think it's delicious, but the reasoning in that recommendation makes me stabby.
How many love piddles can I give this? The fat in an avocado =/= the fat in a candy bar. Give good calories, not bad. Fat is good for the body, if it's good fat. I love you more each day @mapleme.

But me eating 500 calories worth of peanut butter M&M's is still as good as me eating 500 calories worth of salmon and steamed brocolli, right?? Please don't mess up my dinner plans, girls.
Didn't mean to sidetrack the thread... With DS still BF, I guess I don't worry about the 2%/WCM. I was just saying what my pedi told me. Which looking online I can't find a whole lot for not using WCM before 2yrs. I have wondered about it all since it doesn't seem like anyone else was told 2%...

I figured most kids from 1 - 2 were typically down to just morning and night nursing. Ahhh I don't know... I'm not there yet.
I haven't, but I will
