Last year, we had one beautiful cake for the guests, and each baby had their little individual "1st bday" animal cupcake (to match their Noah's Ark cake).
Their bday party is in 2 weeks and I can't decide what to do this year. I want them both to have the opportunity to blow out candles, but should I do one big cake with enough candles for both or two smaller cakes so they feel more individual?
What did you/will you do at 2 years old? (Not that age is that important, it's just I doubt at 2, they come up to me and say, "Mommy, I really wish you had gotten us separate cakes since we are separate people" lol... ya know!)
Re: Birthday cakes- 1 or 2?
For their 1st bday, we did the same as you -- 1 big cake, then 2 smaller cakes for them to "make a mess with"
We're most likely going to do the same for their 2nd
For their first I did the same thing, got one big cake for the guests and each baby had a smaller cake (free from Shaws!). I think for the first birthday that was important so they could both smash and eat cake for the first time.
I think as they get older, they don't need their own whole cake but an individual cupcake would be nice.
i did cupcakes for the guests, and each boy got his own real cake. small, though.
what i didn't do that i wish we would have was sing for each boy individually. thank goodness they were too young to notice this year.

I have no idea, but I just have to pipe up and say that I am DYING at the cuteness of your son's little mohawk! It is so tough and adorable I can barely stand it.
I'm hoping my 2 have enough hair some day that I can give them little mohawks (and MIL a heart attack in the process).
We did two cakes for the girls 1st & 2nd birthday parties.
I plan on doing 2 cakes for them.

As a twin myself, get two cakes. Without question, two cakes. And you also need to sing happy birthday twice.
Right before Sarah and Madeline's first birthday my twin sister sent me an email to make sure I was making them each a seperate birthday cake.
As a twin you have to share so much including your birthday, it's just nice to have something that is your own.
At 2 your kiddos are probably still too young to notice, but I think it's good for the family and friends who will be there too to see them as seperate people who share the same birthday.
