Boy name... thoughts/suggestions?

I can't believe I'm almost 31 weeks and are no where close to picking a name.

 

DH is Finnish, I'm Italian.  We originally tried to chose a Scandinavian name, but nothing is jumping out at us.  DH loves these crazy elaborate Italian names, but they're too much for me.  So, we went back to the drawing board. 

Our last name kind of sounds like Heineken, except with an extra N in there somewhere, so it's clearly Finnish but also limiting - I don't like anything that ends with N, I feel like it is too rhyme-y.

Here's what we 'like', though we're not sold on any of them:

Atticus

Ulysses

Cyrus (DH doesn't like it)

Augustus

Gideon (Definitely too rhyme-y for me)

 

It's not even a very long list   Any thoughts?  Suggestions?

This is hysterical because the one name I REFUSE to include on the list is Thor.

DH loves it.  I feel like I can't take him seriously when he brings it up.  Am I crazy?

Thor is not good IMO.

Augustus has been on the list the longest, where other names have come and gone.

 

Perseus was another one, but we liked Ulysses better.

I also like Thaddeus. I had a boss named that and he went by Thad. I always thought it was a very nice name!

Thor is not good IMO.

 I couldn't take him seriously with the name... My fiance' is a huge comic book fan so we decided on something a little less out there.. Logan (Wolverine's real name) still a cool name but its not a crazy name lol

My favorite is Augustus on that list. The suggestion of Thaddeus also sounds interesting. Good luck!!

TBH - I don't even know if I like any of them.  They're just the ones we don't like the least.  I don't know what we're going to do when we can't think of a name for this baby.

Either of those would be my pick!

Maybe because I'm an English teacher, but I think the association between Atticus and To Kill A Mockingbird is SO very strong that I'd proceed with caution.  It's a name with a lot to live up to because of Atticus Finch in the book.

I like Thaddeus!

Augustus gets a ton of love on this board, but I just don't like it.  My bus driver in hs was "Gus" and he was a big, fat, mean redneck dude.

When I bring up August or Augustus to people in real life, most of them say "Like Augustus Gloop from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?". I think solid German name, not redneck at all. MH has a great-great-GF named Augustus from Germany.

I am In the same boat....we have no name & I really don't LOVE anything. DH only likes stupid 80's names or comic book names (also wanted Thor btw....yeah that's gonna happen)

Out of your list i like Atticus & Thaddeus the most. I rally like Thad for short!.

This post REALLY caught my eye because i'm finnish and my DH is italian :):)

i take it you are definitely having a boy? here is our working list, though  many of these ARE more scandinavian than italian. we were going for more universal, overall.
