Gluten free pasta recs?

For any of you that have cooked with gluten free products, do you have a suggested pasta to try?  I was diagnosed with a medical condition that requires me to eliminate gluten temporarily, and possibly permanently, from my diet.  I'm currently eating a quinoa and corn blend and I'm not loving it so much.  There are so many options out there, how do you pick?

Re: Gluten free pasta recs?

  • Tinkyada is my preference.  BioNature is alright, and so is Trader Joe's brown rice pasta.
Mostly, I've moved away from them - SOOO many carbs.  But some of it is also just adjusting to the taste.  The first many months gluten free are hard because you have to adapt your taste buds away from what you think things like bread (Udi's is my favorite, but everyone has their preference.) and pasta should taste like.  I found it easier to just change the types of food I eat.  (And, really, I way prefer hamburgers on lettuce these days.)

  • I do have some Trader Joe's brown rice pasta at home too, I'll give that a shot next.  But I like the idea of just changing some of the kinds of foods that eat.  I am definitely not a picky eater and frankly, a hamburger on a lettuce leaf sounds just as good to me as a hamburger on a bun. ;-)

  • I have used the heartland spaghetti noodles and they were pretty good. I will have to try tinkyada. My aunt has celiac so when she is over for dinner we cater to her needs.
  • I like Trader Joes. They have a good rice pasta as well as a good corn pasta.

  • TJ Maxx/Homegoods of all places has a ton of gluten free pasta and baking mixes. May want to check the expiration dates, but it's worth a look.  We're talking like 3 shlves of product.
  • I like the Ancient Harvest quinoa/corn pasta and Tinkyada brown rice pasta.
  • Thanks for all of the suggestions. :)
