I have a really good newborn/infant stash made up of fitteds, AIOs, pockets and nb and size small(and some wid baby) prefolds with covers. I know I dont need anymore newborn but I was curious if I should start buying small and medium dipes or if I should hold off until I've figured out what I like. I have some OS bum genius 4.0 and size medium prefolds in case I'm in a pinch where one day she fits the nb stash and the next day she doesn't but I'm wondering if I need to buy the next size up now or just wait? (sorry for the ramble...)

I would get some now. My baby started fitting into os at 3 weeks.

I'd start picking stuff up here and there when there's a good sale (hello Earth Day!) or a seconds sale or something.  You have enough time that you don't need to rush and can wait out good deals.  Also, might I recommend some best bottoms?  They snap down pretty tiny, so they make a great transition size between newborn and OS.  And they have great prints.

I would buy what's on sale, but I would also wait to buy everything until you know what you end up liking for sure. I pretty much completed my OS stash while buying my NB stash, and I needs up selling stuff off and buying more of what I like. I didn't lose any money, and it wasn't that big of a deal, but it would have been easier had I just waited.

I'm still building my OS stash. I have enough prefolds/flats. I pick up pockets/AIOs/fitteds when they are on sale or if I find something used.
