Snacks at Birthday Party

I've never hosted a party with this many people before and I need ideas! Any and all snack ideas welcome. We are having the party at 2pm so I'm thinking just a lot of snacky things and cake. What type of things are you having at your party? Any recipes you want to share? ;;)

Re: Snacks at Birthday Party

  • Mini quiches
Tapas type things; cold meats, Parma ham, cheese, olives, anchovies, mozzarella and tomato slices.

    Chipolata sausages
(220 degrees until cooked: approx 30-40 mins) serve warm.
2 ¼ lb skinny breakfast sausages
    2 tablespoons Asian sesame oil
    ½ cup honey
    2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • Chex mix is sometimes a crowd pleaser. Finger sandwiches, fruit salad, chips...

  • We are doing little sandwiches, veggie tray, fruit tray, pinwheels...there is different types (ham and Swiss etc.), grapes on a kabob stick, cheese tray, and some sweets.

  • It sorta depends on time of day anything from 11-1 people might expect a more filling lunch type option, from 1-4 you're probably fine with just snack and 5pm and later you might want to offer something filling again.

If the weather is nice I plan on having BBQ summery thins like bbq'd potatoes salad (basically just grill the potatoes and throw some BBQ sauce into a regular pottoe salad) I serve it warm and it normally disappears. I'll try to find a recipe I you are interested.

I also want to do more app type things that are easy to et while chasing after a baby since it's all going to be parents. so sandwiches, cheese and crackers, veggies and dip etc.

Other than that since we have like 10 one year olds coming, I'll do lots of fruit, mum mums, Cheerios and that kind of stuff.

  • Guac rocks my world.  Egg rolls/spring rolls.  Anything on a stick.

  • I second what everyone else said with chips and dips, salads and veggie trays. Also if you have a place that does a pretzel tray like Phili Pretzel Company, they are a huge hit and fairly inexpensive. Also, Sams has these Memphis Dry Rub wings that come in a big bag. My boss always made them and everyone loved them but he said they were an old family recipe. He fessed up after while but they are really good.
  • Our party will be in the afternoon probably 3ish.  I was thinking typical mexican food, rice beans and bbqd meat but also have some dip and snacks for all the kids (also hot dogs for the kids).

I want to do a sweets table too along with the cake.

This is a dip I always make and people LOVE it.

2 pkgs of cream cheese (8 oz)

1 pkg of Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage (drain fat)

    Can of rotel (undrained)

Cook sausage and mix with cream cheese and rotel.  I usually serve in crock pot so it stays warm.  And it's a good idea to put in crock pot early to soften the cream cheese or I have also mixed everything and thrown in the microwave when I'm in a hurry.

Serve w/ tortilla chips and you can make it spicy by adding spicy sausage or hot rotel.

  • If you look on Pinterest there are tons of great ideas!
  • My go to apps are veggie pizza, fruit pizza, artichoke dip, buffalo chix dip, chips and salsa, cream cheese with raspberry chipotle jelly an crackers, lil smokies
  • We're doing walking tacos and a couple salads and maybe chips and salsa.

  • We did pinwheel sandwiches from a local deli, individual bags of chips, jello animals and snack mix (bunny grahams, Cheerios, raisins) for the kids, pasta salad, caprese skewers, fruit and cheese tray, cupcakes

  • I plan to do just some basic stuff like fruit/veggie trays, meat and cheese, chips, dips, maybe some other sweets besides the cake.

Other than that I would like to do fruit skewers and marshmallow pops with colors to match my theme.

Oh and I want to do a little baby platter with things like puffs, cheerios, yogurt melts, goldfish, etc.

That salad sound awesome, if you don't mind sharing the recipe @LaxMOM44 !

  • @shoegal36 What an awesome idea to do a baby buffet. I'm totally going to steal that ;;)
  • I forgot to say what we are having.  We are having a BBQ or a hog roast.  Haven't decided yet. If we do the BBQ I tend to make potato salad, pot of chilli/curry, burgers, chicken/lamb shish kebabs, pasta salad, and veggies.
