I didn't read all the posts yet so this may have been said already, but since I'm currently pumping this is what I've been told by LC and NICU nurses: You can have one alcoholic beverage then wait 2 hrs before you pump, no need to dump it. They've actually been encouraging me to drink beer as it's supposed to help increase milk supply.

Say no more. I'm about to start stocking up on Shiner Bock for when LO gets here. "It's for the baby!" I will say.
Hope Henry is doing well!
He is doing great! I actually hate beer and so far I've tried Sam Adams cherry wheat and it was awful! I need to find a more tolerable beer!
The strips worked for me as far as I knew. I had my BFF's bachelorette party and used them on the stuff I pumped while I was away. It was an overnight. Some of my stuff was okay and others turned the strip black (from what I remember). We had a fridge so I brought the good stuff home. I never felt the need to use the strips any other time. If I was home and drinking I could manipulate the timing. I only got trashed one other time at her wedding and since it was only a few hours of being drunk, I just dumped. The Bach party was more spread out and sometimes I only had a drink or two in me. If dd was older I would have skipped some pumping altogether, but she was still young.

Blue moon with a slice of orange is fruity and refreshing. It's a good beer if you don't like beer

This! I was going to type this exact thing. You can also squeeze some lemon in it if you're a big lemon fan instead of orange.
I have two friends who would use the alcohol test strips last year when I was visiting. If one batch of milk tested over the limit they would dilute it with previously pumped milk and then test again until it was under the "limit" so they wouldn't have to throw out the whole batch.
This sounds a little sketchy to me, but it seemed to work for them so I figured I would share with you all.

Try a Blue Moon with orange slices! Nice and light :-).

Mmm, or Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat - my absolute favorite. Light and super fruity. It's going to be my first drink after baby.
Blue Moon is the devil and should not be classified as beer!!! JK I just think it is nasty! I'm not much for flavored beer though
:P
But seriously, flavored beer (can be) the bomb! Blue Moon, Sam Adam's Cherry Wheat, Leinekugel, Pyramid Apricot Ale, Sea Dog Blueberry beer.... mmm. I miss beer. I know I can have a few swigs while pregnant, but it hasn't been worth it since it gives me horrible reflux. Boo.
This thread made me have a dream that I was with a bunch of college friends and they were all getting drunk around me and told me to "put my belly away and drink." Why are these the dreams that I actually remember?!?!? I haven't really craved alcohol this pregnancy, but now I totally am.

I tried a beer called Purple Haze when in NOLA and while the taste wasn't bad I couldn't take more than a few drinks. I think it may have been a raspberry beer or something.
DH and I brew beer and I've been thinking of starting one now so it can be my first drink after birth. We'll call is 'special delivery' or something. I don't know that there's time, we're fairly booked up the next few months and I probably can't lift everything I'd need to lift to do the process alone. But it would be so satisfying! I plan to have a beer every once in awhile during breastfeeding. We sell beer in my department at work so I could just have the beer guy order something extra extra special for me. I like lots of types of beer, but I'm most looking forward to some grapefruity IPA this summer! If that sounds good to you, look for Baxter Brewing Stowaway IPA from Maine, so good!
Me and DH brew as well and we were thinking of doing the same My niece was born on earth day last year and Southern Tier came out with a beer named "04.22.13" for earth day, so we dubbed it her birthday beer
Also, I know someone who works at Baxter!! I've never had their beer since I haven't been up near Maine lately though
Have you ever tried Three Floyds Zombie Dust? Best grapefruity beer i've had hands down.

Ooh, I haven't heard of that one! I'll have to go on a search. If we can't get it at work there are 2 good craft beer stores around I could ask (pretty much the only cool thing about my current city).
I'm not sure if you can get it outside the IL/IN area. Once we give birth we'll have to do some beer swapping :)
I love you all so much for helping turn the breastfeeding thread into a beer fest once all the pertinent info got out there and the question was answered!
Seriously, you're the best. I'm no lush but I feel good about when and how much I can drink whenever I'm ready. The idea of the entire summer passing me by without a beer, margarita, whatever is now safely gone from my terrified brain.

I started making new batches of wine after my bfp so I have many many many bottles waiting for me.

We have three wines in right now that we'll be killing the germ on this week. They'll be alreaeady for me when I get home. What wines did you start?

I doubt I'll have more than a glass of wine at any one time since I'll be the one watching the baby all the time lol. I would also not do anything different after drinking that one glass while BFing. I thought I would miss drinking but I actually don't! And I've allowed myself a glass of red wine here and there throughout this pregnancy and have never wished I could drink more, which did surprise me. Prior to getting preggo I was a total wine freak lol
@joules235 and @mullenem thanks for the suggestions!! I'm up for trying anything at this point to help with my supply! It's been just over a week since my hospital stay and I'm really starting to feel like myself again. I'm gonna give it a couple more days before I talk to a LC, I'm hoping now that I'm feeling better my supply will start getting better! I guess we'll see!
