DH likes the names Sadie and Essie. (He's big on nicknames). I'm okay with either, but only if we give them a longer name that the nicknames would work for.

I know Essie can be short for Estelle and Ester, but don't care for either. Any others?

I have no idea what Sadie is short for... anyone know?

No clue with Essie.

To my knowledge, Sadie is a stand-alone name... but https://www.babynames.com/Names/name_display.php?id=3461 says it's a nickname for Sarah.

You could maybe do Essie with Elisabeth.

The radio DJ in my area has a daughter named Sadie - it's short for Mercedes, in his case.

Essie could be short for Estrella (which means Star in Spanish, and I always thought was kind of sweet.)

Also, I always thought Sadie was an old-timey nickname for Sarah.

I like Sadie as a stand-alone name...not a big fan of Essie.

Hmmm... Didn't realize that Sadie WAS a stand alone name. (Unfortunately we can't use Sarah - it's already taken in the family). It's cute; we'll keep it on the list. Thanks for the help with Essie, too! Now I know why they have those "name starts with" functions on the name sites!
