TTC after 35

My cupful of crazy for this week... Share yours?

So I'm totally thinking in the back (middle? almost front?) of my mind that my pregnancy has put me into an early menopause.

I got AF last month-- first time post partum-- and thought I'd be good to go for TTC. But alas, I'm on cycle day 37 and maybe have had a delayed O but am not sure. This is so frustrating and doing nothing to help me with my irrational menopause thoughts...

What're YOUR crazy thoughts for this week?

Re: My cupful of crazy for this week... Share yours?

  • I know the feeling of seeing something even the least bit off, and feeling crazy!   This week, I'm obsessing because I got a positive OPK on Thursday, but still haven't seen my bbt go past the coverline so I'm not certain if I O'd, though my temp's been increasing.  So now I'm worried that a) all my running is causing me to not O, or b) if I haven't O'd, then is the fact that I was just too exhausted to BD last night going to knock this month's chances down.

As for your concerns about early menopause, I'm certainly no expert, but everything I've seen about post-partum cycles is that they can be pretty wonky for awhile.  So it sounds to me like it's a great sign you got your AF last month, and your cycles just might not get totally regular for a little while yet.  Though I certainly know how frustrating waiting can be!!

  • I remember how frustrating it was waiting for my cycles to return to normal after DD was born.  For some reason I didn't immediately think of menopause, but I had a history of very irregular periods, so I was afraid they would just kind of...never return...due to whatever my issue had always been.  They did, though, and are more regular than when I was younger.  I'm sure yours will, too.  It just takes some time!  Are you breastfeeding at all?  I had to wean completely to get mine back to normal.

After 3 months of 28-29 day cycles, this months came on day 32.  I never had a positive HPT so I know it wasn't a CP and I know I ovulated occording to OPK, just must have been later.  I had horrible nausea on day 1 of cycle that has continued off and on and a lighter than normal AF.  Thanks to the fabulous "I didn't know I was pregnant" show, in the back of my crazy mind is that I might be pregnant.  Rational, educated thoughts prevail thank goodness and the nausea seems to have passed.  I did however switch from folic acid to prenatals.  I guess crazy never really leaves.  Hopefully after OPK shows smiley face, crazy will be completely gone.

  • I think I had the same thoughts before my AF returned, that I was of course going to be messed up somehow and never get it back, but after one wonky long cycle, she's back to her normal 26 days!

My crazy is that I peed on a wondfo at 5dpo, and then was disappointed it was a BFN, HA. Yup my obsessive ttc brain has officially returned. This could get to be a very expensive habit...

Yeah, very disappointed by negative frers at 7 and 8 dpo (and with extra super pale evening pee, too) over here.

The thing is that since I just got back some pretty disappointing blood work results from my OB, I think I'm really clawing after hope in the form of a natural bfp (much more than I was last month) before I get referred to an RE two months from now and stuff gets real :(

I'm sorry, @Davie813! I hope that you don't have to start with the RE.

  • Not to feed your wild hopes/craziness @Davie813, but I got both my BFPs (one was a CP, though) on the days of my only two RE appointments.
