I had a really good week. I had a doc appointment and they basically told me to exercise and limit sugar (based on my weight gain - they didn't even ask if I was exercising or not) but it was a wake-up call and had to make sure I had a good week!
Cardio= elliptical w/ a 15 min walk
Mon- 45 min cardio + light weights Tue- 60 min cardio Wed- 45 min swim (I had to share a lane with 2 others which means we had to circle swim which means I had to keep up with their pace - it was a great workout) Thurs- 45 min cardio Fri- 45 min cardio Sat- just walked dog Sun- OFF
Hope to have a repeat of last week for this week. It's amazing how much better my body feels (less aches and pains) when I have good exercise weeks. Nothing much going on with me this week so just looking forward to the weekend so I can relax!
I feel so bad you are struggling with weight gain after all this running!!!
I weigh in tmwr but I was up 20lbs at 30 weeks. I haven't gone running since 22-23 weeks. I definitely need to start working in some serious walking now. I did 2.1mi last week.
It's definitely sucky but I'm almost there so it can't get much worse! I will probably end up gaining about 40 total. THAT will be fun to get off this summer! We will need to have another check in once everyone has their babies and are cleared to exercise again!
@Kinipela7 sounds like you had a great week! I am struggling a little bit with weight too - 25 lbs at 29 weeks - so you are not alone! I'm definitely into having a weekly check-in after the babies arrive to stay accountable!!
My week was good:
Mon - Rest Tue - 5 miles on treadmill Wed - 1 hr yoga Thurs - 3 miles outside Fri - 2.5 miles outside Sat - Rest Sun - 5 miles outside
A little over 15 mi total for the week, plus yoga, some gardening/yard work and lots of walking around department stores on Sat & Sun. I hope to have another good week this week - I'm definitely feeling better overall!
Yeah... I'm with you on weight gain. About 25 at 30 weeks, but I haven't weighed since this weekend because of all the junk I ate while my parents were in town for my first shower!!! So I could be up to 30 lbs... I'm waiting a couple days to even things out!
My runs were ok. I only ran twice, for 2 and 3 miles. The track at my gym was closed Tuesday and I had to use the treadmill Monday so I opted to use the bike instead. I also did a little walking. Ready to get back into my normal eating patterns (I ate so much crap this weekend and I just don't feel good!!!), and running!
This week I also plan on utilizing my Universities staff wellness program to do yoga and tai chi. I'm looking forward to: having a fairly low key week at work (I hope...), and getting to spend the weekend with my hubby. We might be taking a birthing class on Saturday, then Easter with his family on Sunday!
@kinipela7 and @babygabe614 you ladies are rocking the work outs!! I'm sure the weight gain has more to do with you actually gaining healthy amounts, but not losing muscle tone... At least I tell myself that!!
hey ladies! our weight gain all seems to be about the same! i was up 25 lbs at my 30 week check up too. our bodies are just going to do what they need to do, huh?
i had a great week of working out and i feel really good. runs were tough though and i had to do a bit of walking during my 4 miler. lifted and went to yoga too, so pretty happy overall. i too am interested in keeping up this thread after babies are born. it will be great to encourage each other and give tips too
i had a tough thing happen to me this week. anyone been workout shamed yet? i went to a prenatal yoga class, a new one that i hadn't been to before. the instructor kept telling me to do the chattaranga pushups on my knees, even though i always do them on my feet. after class, she lectured me about doing too much and even doing pushups while preggers is too much ab work. i was likely going to suffer from diastastis recti and would probably not recover. she has a friend who is super active and looks 4 months pregnant because of it, blah blah blah. she said lifting and running were far too much ab work and i shouldn't do any of this. i dont do any crazy ab exercises, usually just planks. anyone else experience this kind of shaming yet? i really hope it doesn't happen to you all. i was very upset about this. i feel so proud of myself that i have been able to work out and feel so good throughout my pregnancy and this moment just felt awful.
@lola4411 - I'm sorry your instructor did that. I hate when people think they know all. YOU know your body the best and I trust you are listening to it! If pregnancy has taught me one thing, it is not caring what other people think. People always give opinions on everything - just gotta let it roll off your back! Your doing great!
@Kinipela7 thanks for the kind words! i have received nothing but support throughout my pregnancy and this just felt really bad, you know? damn pregnancy hormones, i got teared up reading what you wrote lol. thanks
Thta's just awful. You'd think someone with a health and fitness background would have more knowledge than that... or at the very least, considering she works with people every day as an instructor she'd have more tact than to say something like that to you! I'm sorry @lola4411 but echoing @kinipela7 you are doing great and your body will thank you for it. I'm sure if you were doing anything too strenuous, you would feel "off" and back off as much as you felt were necessary. Hang in there and keep up the good work.
thanks @babygabe614 ! it was tough to hear but i am so happy to also hear support from you guys and family/friends. yes, i listen to my body and know the difference between pushing oneself and pushing oneself too far, you know? stupid yoga lady ruining my weekend!
Hi ladies, I've been kind of mia lately. I hurt my ankle at 26 weeks, then biked and did the elliptical for 4 weeks. I tried running at 30 weeks (3 weeks ago) and felt good, but had a lot of contractions following the run, lasting all day. So that was scary and I think my running days are on hold until after the babies are born. I'm going to the gym three times a week to strength train and bike/elliptical. ) With ds I ran up until the day I went into labor at 40 + 4. I knew I wouldn't be able to run as long with the twins app I guess I'm at that point. I'm up 27 lbs now at 33 weeks 2 days. Keep up the good work, everyone!

@kmw722 sounds like you are still doing great, even though you can't run! Good for you! And only 27 lbs at 33 weeks and change with TWINS?! I am envious
I am hoping to finally get back out and walk this week and get to our crossfit gym once. We had new carpets put in Saturday so my workouts the last 2 weeks have consisted of packing up the house and bringing stuff down 2 flights of stairs to the basement...then climbing back up the 2 flights of stairs to get more boxes. LOL! It's done now and my house is spotless and looks brand new, I don't want to put anything back! LOL! But the show must go on. We've got rain going on here today, and then 30 degree temps expected tonight and tomorrow...yes I live in Atlanta! It's crazy!
Weight gain is ok. I think I'm at 22 pounds, 30 weeks today. I actually lost 3 lbs when I was at the doctor today, compared to 2 weeks ago. So I was happy about that.
I definitely want to check back with you ladies after the babies are here. I already have my eye on my favorite half marathon Oct. 5th. Do you think that's wishful thinking to try and do that?
hey ladies! i went for my checkup today and asked my doc about the risks of exercise exacerbating the diastis recti. she assured me to not worry about it. she said if it was going to happen it would happen and not to obsess about it. if we feel good enough to work out, then we should!
