N2IFR: what to do?

About 4-6 weeks ago we rescued a bluetick coonhound from the shelter, we had been wanting a large outside dog, and we fell in love with him. We have two other dogs, a female, and another male and until today, I haven't had any problems whatsoever. I let my Boston outside to potty, and mind you he is really old and nonaggressive, a big old pushover... then I hear barking that is out of the normal for our bluetick, he usually has a playful happy bay, but this one was aggresive, I literally threw my laptop on the couch ran outside, and our bluetick had our boston pinned down and I had to pull him off... he didn't hurt the other dog, but that is sooo not the point... we have had the other two for years, and I know their behavior and I definitely know my boston did not innitiate this incident... both of our males are neutered, our female is not... we have been keeping her isolated right now because she is in heat... so I am not sure if that possibly had anything to do with this outburst of unacceptable  behavior... I don't know what to do, if he shows aggression to a dog that isn't aggressive, what is he gunna pull next... that could have been my 5 year old and not my other dog... I hate thinking about getting rid of him, but I am against aggressive dogs...

  • Unfortunately, we do not have anyone in our area that does that kind of thing... :/ we don't have shit. I hope it was a one time ordeal because I just will not put up with it... My Mickey boy is my baby, my husbands dog is a dachshund, and those two are inseparable.... doggie soul mates I swear lol, and while we do want an outside dog, maybe we made a mistake getting a grown one instead of getting a puppy to raise them up with our already established fur babies... :/ I will have to discuss this with dh, who is at work at them moment

  • I keep trying to do the same with Jack, he was abandoned, and lived in that shelter at the humane society for god knows how long, locked up in a cage alone... He is definitely an oddball as well...

  • I have no advice on how to pick and raise an outside dog. I'm too much of a bleeding heart and I put human emotion into the equation. My first thought was, "I'd beat up the smug asshole who came out of the house to poo in my living room, too." I don't mean that to be snarky- I just have no clue how to handle the situation!
  • bahaha. they usually get along just fine... maybe he is just mad cuz our female is too small to get to poon tang from lol
