It Makes Me Smile - Early Edition

I am not sure I will have time to post this tomorrow, so I thought I'd get the ball rolling early this morning. What are your happy, shiny moments for this week?

For me, I'm really excited that DS is doing so well at church nursery. We went through a tough time last fall, so this is a huge deal for me. Bonus, every time I have dropped him off and told the workers (different folks every week) that they could page me if DS needed a diaper change, someone has piped up and said that they knew how to do it or didn't mind figuring it out! So far they've changed him twice and snapped them a bit bigger than I would have, but it worked!

The other thing that made me smile this morning was the baptisms. In this church, they have family members do the actual "dunking" which I had never seen before. I thought it was precious!

DH is cleaning the kitchen right now while I nurse L. I usually do it.

I just enjoy Sundays. It's the one day that we are all home together for the whole day. Today we did some shopping and had DDs picture taken with the Easter bunny. I got some cleaning done too which always feels good.

My husband took the baby on a two hour hike yesterday. I actually had time to myself.

@unaveragejane‌ That's cool about the baptism. M will be baptized in two weeks; the church has a little pool at the baptismal font but they don't do immersion. I was a little disappointed.

DD woke up from her nap and promptly walked over to her boots and put them on. She's been walking around in just pink rubber boots and her diaper for hours now. Also it was 20'C all weekend. It's supposed to rain for the rest of the week, but I don't care right now.

I worked all weekend (12 hr night shifts) and the highlight of my mornings is getting to come home and see DD get the biggest open-mouthed grin and squeal when she sees me come home.  During the week she's at daycare, but on the weekends, DH is home with her so I get to see her first thing in the morning.  It's the best!

And along the same line as @unaveragejane, we started going to a church a few weeks ago and I was SO nervous to leave DD in the nursery.  She's a bit apprehensive of strangers, but she has done really really well so far.  In fact, she cries when we have to pick her up to go home.  It warms my heart that she's so excited about being with the other kids/teachers and makes me feel so much more comfortable about leaving her.

Our gardens are almost finished!

And M's party is next Saturday for his first birthday and we bought some tiki torches for outside, and I'm going to purchase a bunch of stuff for it tomorrow. I decided to go with the Very Hungry Caterpillar theme which, I think, has been done to death but M really likes that book!

If it rains, though, we are screwed. We should have about 19 people. Our house cannot accommodate that many people

LO will be two weeks old tomorrow. After 5 years of begging, praying, and dreaming of another baby, my sweet girl is finally here and I just can't get enough of her.

This whole weekend made me smile. It was sunny all weekend and we took L to two parks. We went out to eat a few times with friends and grandparents. And I got to do yoga and a bike ride with my dad.

DS only woke up one time last night. It is making me smile so much.

We also had a great weekend. We went out to the park and then the zoo. I also got adorable pictures of DS with our friends son. They are six months apart, but almost the same size. I have such a peanut.

My neighbors all have lawn services. Seriously, it's so weird. We look like the poor family on the street mowing our own lawn, lol.

After all the talk about finding shoes of lo. We had a few that we had retired since they didn't fit right... But ds had been slimming a little bit so I unpacked them from a box in the basement... And they fit!! Probably only for a short while but it's still nice to have something and not need to buy anything yet. I still want some robeez or the like though.

Seriously.  Mine is also a 60+ year old man who likes to grill in his driveway with no shirt.  Ugh.

There is one hottie a few houses up, but he's D's best friend's dad.  So I just feel weird even thinking he's hot.

 

AFM, I'm having a hard time coming up with a IMMS today.  I had a rough weekend, and Monday isn't proving any easier.  I won't drag the thread down with my negativity, but if you have any spare happy thoughts send them my way. It's nice to read everyone else's happy thoughts, so keep it up!

LO loves clapping and dancing. And cracking up when Mommy and Daddy do silly things. I love that she's growing up into a fun little kid with a personality!

I keep thinking this (and even commented about it to DH). So if you're having a rough few days it seems to be just the right time to share that I LOVE your CD advice. I love that fact that you are willing to answer the same questions over and over again, but I really love the fact that you go into detail and give reasons behind your advice (so instead of saying "I like fitteds" you say "I like fitteds for the NB stage because they catch runny NB poo and I like fitteds ON later on because they make good absorbancy for side sleepers" or something of the like). As someone who really appreciates complete information, your CD advice rocks.

Completely not baby related although he gave me plenty to smile about this weekend. It really made MH and I feel good this weekend when we were complimented for our work with the volunteer fire department. The older people were complaining about a lot of "young guns" in the department that are out of control and wished they were more like us.  We were complimented on our professionalism and how nice and helpful we are to work with.  It's nice to know that we aren't lumped with a lot of the people in our generation who we also can't stand.

G and I are having loaded oven fries tonight for dinner. I LOVE them, and G will eat them, which makes them even better. My awesome meal plans tend to go out the window when DH is gone...

We had a milk accident on rug so DH rented a rug doctor. I got the house to myself to do some dance cleaning.

I took DS to church yesterday. The last time I took him, two weeks ago, he was a handful. But yesterday he was a total sweetheart. He snuggled with me during the entire Mass, and then during the Our Father wanted to hold hands with the woman in the seat next to us, and then got so excited as everyone greeted him during the Sign of Peace. I was so thrilled that I didn't have to step outside once.

Then when we got home I put him down for a nap; he woke up after 45 minutes and was crying. I went to snuggle him so he would cheer up, and he fell back asleep. So we cuddled together for another two hours. Aaaaah.

We found the bolts for the front of our crib.

And C actually slept in it for two hours. Our son and daughter will share a room so I want to take little steps to accomplish this. It would probably go smoother if he didn't have congestion.

Imms that little man is now so enamored of daddy. He smiles so big when he comes home. Also he came home early from work last night, it was dead due to crappy weather so we actually spent some time together.

Also, we made it through Ikea with two kids and actually came home with pillows for the couch.

Now if only I could find curtains for our bedroom.

M had his 4 month checkup today. He has already doubled his birthweight. The doctor is supportive of BLW at six months (after I have explained what it is), and she loved his cloth diaper.

DD started saying "pease" and "tanks".  We haven't been actively trying to teach her this yet, thinking that she is too young to learn it... she's just learning to talk.  We assume she picked it up from hearing us and at daycare.

What's her bday? E is 7/29. I knew our firsts were close, and our 2nds share a due date. But wasn't sure exactly how close the girls were.
