Call your doctor if you're worried, but I think chances are it's the warm weather. My ankles swelled for the first time yesterday, the first warm day here. When I was pregnant with m son, who was born October 5, I had a much longer time dealing with swollen ankles because so much of the second half of my pregnancy was in summer.

  • I've noticed my ankles have been swelling. My Dr is keeping an eye on me for pre-eclampsia. He said that since my BP is good he's not overly concerned and that if it did get high I might have to deliver early. I would check with your Dr.

  • I definitely think it's the warm weather but if it's like this tomorrow I'll def call dr ... my bf was preg in summer and soooo swollen. I can't imagine dealing with that the entire time!
  • It came on all of a sudden with me too. My OB said not to worry unless my bp was high or I had severe headaches or blurry vision.

  • ok I'll keep an eye on that so far so good in that department
  • I get it with the warmer weather as well. It has been pretty warm here recently and the hottest days are the worst for swelling. My BP has been perfect and no other issues relating to pre-e either, I just get the heat swelling.

  • Mine just started 2 days ago, out of nowhere just like you. I'm 37 weeks today, so I'm pretty proud to have made it this far. Luckily they go right back down within 20 minutes of having my feet up. I mentioned it to my doc at my appointment yesterday, but she said it's par for the course at this point. Keep drinking water and limit your salt intake. I would mention it to your doc as well, just so they are aware and can keep an eye on it.

  • I swelled a lot in February then everything decreased during the last month. I only find I swell a lot now (esespecially hands) when I overdo it in the heat. The last time I had a bad incident was when we went to the zoo and it was in the mid80s.

  • Yep, I've been a puffball the past few days as the weather's gotten warm. Yuck. It doesn't seem to help to keep mine up, but at least we don't have to worry about stuffing these puffy piggies into shoes. My SIL was pregnant last year and had to wear flip flops half the winter because she couldn't fit into her shoes anymore.

  • I just started a little swelling over the past week or so.  My Dr. said at my routine appointment that it is normal as long as your are not pitting, face swelling, or things aren't going down overnight.

  • Mine swelled up last weekend because I was taking a class and sitting more. I bought compression stockings and they are back to normal.
  • I'm insanely swollen, too. Doc told me to watch my BP - but it's actually pretty normal.

Mine came on all of a sudden, too.

Yep 37 weeks tomorrow, I too had on capris today. After a long walk in the park, cleaning up and planting flowers on our balcony I looked down at no ankle definition and fat feet. Sat with them up for an hour and the swelling went down considerably but they are still a bit puffy looking.
  • I get puffy feet towards the end of the day and my shoes get really tight. I've also found my wedding ring is getting tight too, but not enough to take it off yet.

The warm weather will def make it worse. My ankles are swollen every day, but when it's warm they are bordering on cartoonishly swollen. I was in NYC yesterday to see a show. There was a lot of sitting and walking around in 70 degree weather and they were barely recognizable when we got home!

    Baby #2 due 4/26/16!

  • Yep 2 weeks ago it started for me. My MW was only concerned because it was it going down over night. It finally did and has gotten better because I'm starting to slow down. I decide that my body was telling me I needed to.
  • My hands and ankles have swollen and mine have been like this for a few months now and I'm due in May. Boy am I ready for him to get here!
  • My left foot swole up today. Not right, no ankles, just the foot. And I felt like crap, too, but it has since gone down.
  • I went to put my shoes on last week and was surprised that they were tight. My feet are so swollen by the end of the day although my doctor just said they're "puffy". If I'm off of them then they're fine though and doctor isn't concerned about pre-eclampsia.
  • I've noticed just recently too. Boo!!
