STMs: cleaning question

Any idea how to clean a PNP? I saw a blog where a woman submerged the mattress for her's but it feels like it's just cardboard in there. I have a graco BTW. Ours looks dingy and you can see spots where DS either peed or puked in it and it left a wet spot stain. I'm thisclose to just throwing it out and buying a new one.

  • Damp rag? Maybe one with mild detergent bc there are spots...then rinse thoroughly. I have a Graco and there is no way I would submerge it.

  • I'm not really worried about cleaning it because we bought a secondary mattress to put in there so I just need to wash the sheets.  You could go that route - I paid $30 (or less) for the mattress.

  • People take the mattress out and soak the pnp in the bath tub. Apparently the water is super nasty after the soak.

I'm guessing the mattress would maybe maybe be submerged in the tub and laid out to dry. Depends on what's inside it.

    That's what worries me. I don't know what's inside.

  • If you don't want to buy a new matress for it, I would just wipe it down as best you can and then use sheets. No way would I submerge the matress. I feel like that's asking for a mold/mildew issue no matter how well you let it dry.

  • Damp rag and Dawn? I wouldn't submerge, though.

  • I sprayed mine down with vinegar-water and scrubbed at it with a cloth and a little bit of dishsoap.  Then I put it outside to dry.  The vinegar smell was gone once it dried.

  • I just took it out on the deck with some soapy water and the hose. Left the pad hanging on the railing and the pack n play leaned up to dry.worked well.

  • I assume this method would work for the frame and non-removable parts of the Rock N Play too, right? Scrub it in the shower and then set it out to dry?

  • If dusty, vacuum it. If dirty, spot clean it with soapy water. Let it dry in the bathtub (too much crap in the air to let it dry outside right now).
