Car seat laws?

Does anyone know if there is a law saying that you can't use a 3 point harness? This lady on a FB group is trying to sell this car seat and I sure it's out of date, I would hate to see someone buy this and it not be safe.  Would you say something? I've tried look it up but can't find a picture or information on that type of car seat.

Well, most states require that you use the seat as intended so if it's expired (and it very likely is) it would be illegal to use.  I would ask her what the brand and model is and ask her to snap a picture of the manufacture date and then we could figure out if it's expired if it's not blatantly expired, kwim?

But no, 3 points aren't illegal, per se.

Thanks @elmoali! I wasn't sure but I did ask her the expiration date and she is supposed to get back with me.

I'm under the impression it is illegal to sell a used carseat in general.

CoffeeBeanFiend91  You can sale any baby item as long as it's not expired and you know who you are buying it from.

Good to know. I know I read somewhere it was illegal but I cant remember where and when I read the article.

Yeah it's definitely not illegal to sell a carseat and it's not even illegal to sell an expired one.  But it's strongly discouraged to buy one.   People always will do it though so if you have one and is in amazing condition, it helps to sell it because the person who buys it is at least getting one of the good ones out there.

I had thought you were liable if you sell a car seat and something happens to that child...maybe I'm just paranoid. I won't be selling any of our car seats.
