3rd Trimester

NST

I am going to be 30 weeks on Sunday.

I have been doing kick counts on the advice of my doctor since 28 weeks. There are days I am not able to get 5 kicks in one hour or 10 in 2. Tuesday this week the baby did not move for four hours. He was active on Wednesday and then on Thursday I was only able to get three kicks. He wasnt moving this morning so I contacted my doctors office and they told me to come in for a NST at 2:30 today. As soon as I got off the phone the baby has been very active.

Should I still go in for the NST or do I cancel it?

Re: NST

  • I would just go if it will give you peace of mind and perhaps they can answer questions about wny you may not be feeling movement as frequent as they'd like.  Do you know the position of you placenta?  If it's anterior that could be a reason why.  A coworker had this same issue and was told at her NST that her placenta was anterior and also that it was thicker than most, so this is wny she wasn't feeling anything for hours at a time.

  • Hope your appointment went well! I have days like that too. They've checked a few times and done NST. Once baby was turned weird and since I have high fluid they say I can feel decreased movement...
