They want me to come in a week early bc they think my levels are really high to only be showing 5w2d and an empty sac. So they think it's either a blighted ovum or twins. But there was only one sac so wtf? Help me out here ladies
Well from what I read a blighted ovum will probably miscarry before then so if you still have pregnancy symptoms by then you might be in luck? I hate the waiting too. I've done the waiting a couple times. It's miserable and depressing.
I have a SS option. At my first ob appt with Ds1 I thought I was 8 weeks but all they saw was a sac and some extra "shmutz". My betas came back really high too after that visit so they told me it was possibly a blighted ovum. 2 weeks later they repeated the ultrasound and there was one baby measuring at 8 weeks. Ob's answer was it was possible we had started as a twin gestation but one didn't form and " vanished". And the shmutz on the earlier us was possibly the unformed sac for baby 2..... T & P for you!

Thanks for this. They saw one sac and it was nice and round but nothing visible. I'm just praying
I always remind my patients that while MOSt people follow "normal" beta HCGs, not all people do. Some people have really low betas and totally healthy pregnancies and some people have high HCG levels and normal pregnancies. The waiting is the WORST! Good luck with whatever comes your way.
I had a similar experience last August. I had to go in for multiple rounds of testing where the ultrasounds didn't show even a yolk and my numbers were really high. I googled too much and freaked myself out the whole time. LO is 11 days old today healthy and beautiful. T&P's for a similar result.
Definitely don't panic on the basis of hcg levels. That's a really poor indicator to diagnose twins.
I have identical twins that were in one gestational sac (that's the black blob on the ultrasound screen, which means there was one placenta). Within that one gestational sac, each twin had its own amniotic sac. (These are mo-di twins - one placenta, two amniotic sacs.) There are two other types of twins: di-di (two placentas or gestational sacs and two amniotic sacs, which is the lowest risk) and mo-mo (one placenta or gestational sac and one amniotic sac, which is the rarest and most high risk). This might be more level of detail than you want, but a lot of posters were just using the term "sac" which can mean several things.
Again, don't stress about multiples based on hcg. Even if you do have twins in one gestational sac, you won't be able to tell for sure if they each have their own amniotic sac until 10ish weeks.
Hope everything turns out perfectly for you.

Re: Dr called
IUI#2 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 5-9) = BFN
IUI#3 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 3-7) = BFP!
beta #1 11/23 = 270, P4 = 75
beta #2 11/28 = 2055
Our daughter E was born 7/29/2012!
Surprise, our 2nd daughter P was born 5/22/14!
