Brain turned to mush?

I've noticed that since I had DD my brain just cannot function like it used to. I can't process things as quickly, my reading comprehension has gone downhill, I can't write papers as quickly and efficiently, the list goes on!

It is really frustrating me that I'm having these difficulties that I've never had before. Are any of you experiencing the same thing? STM+ if you experienced this did it go back to normal? How long did it take?

I'm in school right now so my brain is getting a workout and DD has been sleeping well so it shouldn't be from current sleep deprivation.

Anyway. Thanks for your thoughts!

Sadly, I've decided that with each pregnacy and LO I have gotten more scatterbrained. And my brain is definitely mushy.

Sorry to say, this is me too. My mind seriously just checks out & stops functioning sometimes.

On a similar note... since having  your LOs, has anyone else noticed other things like completely terrible balance?  Since I had DS1, I have to be really careful going down stairs & I literally feel uneasy simply stepping off a curb. It is MUCH worse if a piece of my hair happens to blow into my eyesight. Anyone else??

  • Reading comprehension has changed (for now, I hope), and just processing conversations in general. I'll hear my husband tell me things that mean something at the time, and later I realize I have completely forgotten the conversation, etc. I don't like it and I hope with more sleep I can get out of la la land.

Well at least I'm not alone! I really hope that's his gets better for us - although some of you have me feeling not so hopeful! Lol

  • I felt the same way after DD so I started doing "brain exercises" like that lumosity website has. I also made myself read more, do crosswords, etc. I had to take the GMAT when DD was 6 months old, so feeling dull was a real issue for me. I didn't feel my best when I took it, but studying and practicing for it really helped. I felt back to normal around 9 months PP. Then I got pregnant again and went back to feeling dumb..  The classes for my masters start in August so I hope to be feeling like my old self by then.

  • Uh-yup. Someone asked me 9 x 6 the other day and I had to seriously pause and think about it. I felt REALLY stupid.

  • I zone out all the time when people are talking to me and I forget names two seconds after hearing them. I think my mind is just constantly going back to LO so I stop paying attention.
  • Yes it's really bad. I start back to work in a week and am petrified I will not be able to perform because my mind is always all over the place.
the Lumosity app is free and I've been doing it everyday to help but who knows if it will.

  • Brain was definetly mush while pregnant, I went to a dr. Appt and she said "hi I'm dr. Whatever" , I said "hi nice to meet you I'm Krystal!" My name is Rachel... She thought it was hilarious. Hasn't been as bad since dd was born.
