Did you send out birth announcements?

Hey there ladies--I'm debating about ordering birth announcements. I feel like everyone that needs/wants to know about our LO's arrival has already heard about it via social media, phone calls, through the family grapevine, etc. I have a keepsake birth announcement for her baby book that came with the photo package we ordered when we had her pictures taken in the hospital, so I don't need them for that.

What did you do/are you going to do?

LO is only 2 weeks old so I haven't yet decided. I really just want one for sentimental value. I don't think I have the energy/motivation to address and send out so many.

My best friend is a graphic designer and is doing our birth announcements as a gift. Now if our photographer would finish our photos so I can pick one to use...she's already a month old!

I have a lot of family that won't see pictures of the baby unless I send them something. Plus I love how cute they are and it's something I want to keep forever. I sent out announcements for my other two and everyone loved them.

I figured why not. Plus I had Shutterfly $20 promo cards. I just got them and have them all addressed but have not ran to the post office to get stamps. My mom really loved her copy and enjoys showing it off.

I am! I love receiving them, and it gives my family members a keepsake all their own to remember this time.

I have them in the box, but I have to send them out still. I mainly wanted them so family could have a few pics of her.

I sent mine earlier this week (around 2+ weeks old).  I think my Grandmother would have killed me if I didn't.

I sent all 75 that I ordered and think I am going to have to go back and order 25 more, I keep thinking of people that I left off the list.  Like my Dad's friends.  He keeps bringing me gifts from friends of his that I have never even met.  He is President of his Condo Board and Mr Popular with all the single ladies in his building.  So I think they are all sucking up.

SS: I sent email announcements (HTML, not just text with an attachment). I had originally planned printed ones, but collecting addresses seemed a bear of a project. My mom printed copies for the few relatives we have that don't have email, but otherwise it worked out great. Also nice because I was able to design them before she was born and send them out the day after she arrived while we were still in the hospital. Not as formal, but really fun to get everyone's warm wishes back via email.

I just finished addressing mine!  I love getting them from others so it makes sense to do them myself  I'm also sending some prints to far flung family members and including thank you notes with the announcement for those that sent gifts.  

I only like the ones with photos though...the ones with just the name and birth stats don't make any sense to me, I want to see the baby!!

I wish we would have, but we were so busy/stressed/drained with the NICU.  Then when they got home they were 7/8 weeks and I figured the ship had sailed...

I was all about it but now that almost 5 wks have passed & our photographer tagged us on Facebook in quite a few of the professional photos, I think I'm gonna save the money. I'm going to have the best kickass Christmas cards though!!!

My mm had some printed up at Walmart to send out with our thank yours. They we're cute, but cheap. I think she said she paid about $5 for about ten or fifteen of them.

We did -- our photographer put them together, and we paid for them with our prints for Elias' newborn pics.

Like others have said, I love receiving them so we sent a bunch. We ordered 60 and had to order 20 more! We felt obligated to send one to anyone that gave us a gift. Pictures were taken at 6 days and I mailed the announcements out at 4 weeks.

I have them all made up but I don't like the pictures I added. I'm waiting for her newborn pics to come back (she's editing them). But DD is a month old now. It'd be kind of silly to send them now, don't you think?

I still haven't sent out my thank yous from my baby shower (I'm a horrible person), so I feel like I really have to send out the announcements so at least those folks will have something since they had to wait so long for a thank you in the first place. I'll order them once I get the nb pics back...and then wait forever to actually mail them out.

SS: I got some made with the shutterfly promos I got, but I never mailed them. So far I've just been giving them to people that have come to visit. I'll probably hand the rest out at Easter.

We did them last year with DS1. I really should do them this time but I'm not sure if I'm going to.

I ordered some through shutter fly that should be here Saturday I think. E is 3 weeks. They are almost an expected thing and we did them with DS1 so I'm doing them again. But I had a $20 credit and the 10 free cards last weekend so I got 25 for less then $20 shipped so I was pleased!

Thanks everyone! I think I might do what a handful of you did--I got the Shutterfly promo too, so I'll just order a few to send out to aunts and uncles and DH's grandma. I think they would be the ones who would care to receive them...I mostly just didn't want to spend the money for something that would just get thrown away!
