Babies on the Brain

Hubby had testicular Cancer

My husband had cancer found in his man area this last July. He had is surgery to remove his testical in August (on our two year anniversary) and then started radiation treatment in September. When all of this happened all the doctors kept asking was are you done having a family? We haven't even started a family yet! After the last treatment they said it can take 6 months to a year for him to be able to produce sperm that is radiated. Well I've looked out there in the World Wide Web and can't find anyone who is having something like this happen. If you are out there I could us a friend.

Re: Hubby had testicular Cancer

  • Did they have him store sperm? I am completely ignorant on how it works with testicular cancer.

I hope you find a person who can help you. Best of luck

  • I don't have any knowledge in this area either, but wanted to offer you good thoughts and hugs.  I can't imagine what you and your husband have been through.  Wishing you both the best of luck and health!

  • Thank you everyone for your sweet reply
  • So sorry you're going through this!!!  My husband was diagnosed last May.  We went directly from the dr's appointment to surgery.  All of his tests since then have come back clear, so he hasn't had to do radiation or chemo.  We've been told several times that losing one has no effects on male fertility.  It was my understanding from both his doctors and my OB/GYN that surgery has not effect, but radiation/chemo can.  We were told we would have time to bank before the radiation/chemo if it came to that.  I'm shocked if they didn't bring this up before treatment began.  Maybe they can test and bank now if the tests come back good?  Just in case?  Again, so sorry y'all are going through this!  We had only been married 7 months when my husband was diagnosed, so I understand.  Thoughts and prayers headed your way!
