Pregnant after IF

The Insomnia Thread... If you're awake, come on in...

3am and I am tossing and turning. This is pretty par for the course lately and I imagine I will give in soon and head to the kitchen for a snack and my usual dose of middle of the night tv.

Anyone else up? What are you doing in the wee hours while your partner peacefully snores away?

Re: The Insomnia Thread... If you're awake, come on in...

  • Well its 6 am here in hell, I mean ridiculously hot California. H and I have been awake since before 5. He gets up early for work (he's in finance and needs to be in before the east coast markets open) but he accidentally reset the alarm so it woke me up conveniently on the one day I don't need to go to work. DD is upstairs watching old Mickey cartoons. I think I'll make some banana pancakes. I'm starving!!

    I hope you're sleeping now!

  • I hear ya, ladies!  Also in hot hot Cali.  I am generally awake from about 3-5 or so, sometimes longer.  I'm incredibly grateful to have been laid off as of 2/28 (end of my first tri) so I can stay in bed later or nap if I need to.  I might ask my OB about Unisom at my next app't in two weeks.

I usually just stay in bed, try for half an hour to go back to sleep, then get up and use the restroom, try again to go back to sleep, and after 45 min to an hour of being awake, I grab my iPhone and catch up on FB and Scrabble.

  • I used to wake up at 3am EVERY night!! I'm now 14w5d and just starting to sleep through the night! (3nights in a row!!) I'm allergic to Benadryl so I never could take e recommended Unisom or anything. I was typically hungry when I woke up so I would nibble on something and just chill. I didn't want to turn on the t.v. or IPad for fear that I would never get back to sleep lol If I wasn't hungry, I would moisturize with a lavender body lotion, do a few stretches and try to fall back to sleep.

Me:Hypothyroid DH: Type II diabetic. Together since 03/2007, Married 10/2011, D/C bc 10/2011. TTC: 11/2011. Charted BBT and CV along with OPK 10/2011-02/2012 Baseline labs 02/2012 WNL, SA 03/2012: botched sample by lab - destroyed hubby's confidence. 04/2012 Clomid 05/2012 Clomid 06/2012 Clomid 07/2012 Clomid and Ovidrel 08/2012 Ovidrel (I never knew that I was supposed to be monitored while on meds...I never was. I asked for u/s and other tests to see why we weren't getting pregnant, doc just kept giving me meds and telling me to go to his church for a "laying of hands") Stopped all monitoring/testing/temps, etc, Sex became a chore and we started to grow apart. At 12 mos I decided to look for another doc. 02/2013 consult with new doc....3 days later testing began...u/s, all good, HSG: all good, labs: all good, ovulating, etc. Started on Pregnitude. 04/2013 failed attempt for SA, 05/2013 failed attempt SA. 12/2013 SA: 3% morph, abnormal functionality. DH started Pycnogenol. RE consult 01/15/2014.

  • I've been up since 3, it's about 5 now.  I've had insomnia pretty bad during this pregnancy.  Up until a week ago I was still working so I got really anxious about being awake in the middle of the night, which only made it worse, of course.  I would usually pick up a book and would feel drowsy again within an hour.   Now that I am on maternity leave (but with no outside baby yet), I'm not too concerned about getting back to sleep so I've been giving into surfing the web, which normally stimulates me way too much.
  • Up since 4.15, now it's 5.15-ish...apparently 4 hours at a stretch is my limit for sleeping! Here's hoping LO doesn't take after me...

  • Awoke with a start at 2.30 after a nightmare (DH and I got divorced, I had an abortion, eventually I married someone I knew from college, got pregnant again, got divorced again and realized I was going to have to seek counseling to decide whether or not to keep the baby, and I still had to tell my friends that the second marriage was over). So so so grateful that DH was right there beside me and cuddled up to me and realized how upset I was.

It's been 40 minutes and I still can't get back to sleep...

@marnief what I wouldn't do for four hours of sleep! Two days this week I was legitimately up from 1am-5am just hanging out and last night I was able to sleep but woke each hour. My MFM told me I can go swim because I'm on moderate bed rest mad also could take 1mg of melatonin if I want. I. Hoping it works or once this baby is born either I will be great at being up all night or useless because I've literally dropped dead from being tired and dh will have to do a lot:)
