Meatless?

Since becoming pregnant I have had an aversion to all meat. What does it mean? How can I get enough protein?

Re: Meatless?

  • Eggs, lentils, beans, Greek yogurt (I make fruit, spinach, and Greek yogurt smoothies).

    For what it's worth.

Protein shakes are also a good source if you can't eat meat.
  • Nuts, fish in moderation if you can stomach it, cottage cheese, beans are very good, milk, eggs...

Just look up high protein vegan/vegetarian options and recipes.

  • meat-replacement things like Quorn if it's not the texture bothering you (meat-free burgers are pretty good and tend to have a mashed vegetable/nutty texture)

My husband takes the protein shakes (muscle milk) I would check the label cause his said specifically "pregnant women should not take this" don't know if others have the same label.
  • It's not that weird. A lot of women develop aversions to foods they used to like before. It doesn't mean anything other than your body just doesn't feel like having that food right now. No biggie.

Eat other protein things. Fish, chicken, beans. Plenty of vegetarians exist in the world that don't eat meat and somehow stay healthy :p

Look up recipes online, I'm sure you'll find plenty of alternatives to red meat.

  • It was my Greek yogurt smoothie comment that did it, wasn't it?
