Re: Panorama??

  • They do it between 9 and 13 weeks. Are you 35 or older? That's the only way insurance will cover it, otherwise it's about $145. I caution you against Panorama. They rejected my first sample (drawn at 9 weeks) and canceled my second sample because they assumed it was the same original sample. I'm LIVID.

  • I had it done at 12 weeks and it was a great option for us. Insurance may or may not cover it. I was told the cost is about $200 (that was in a letter from the company that did the test).

  • I had mine done at 10 weeks and insurance covered it due to my daughters heart defect.

I would have gladly paid the $200 for the peace of mind to know that everything looks good at this point.

  • Also, some labs used by certain clinics/OB offices, may not even DO the test if you aren't AMA. My hospital being one of them. Those women who aren't AMA and want to have the test done are advised to find another clinic to pay out of pocket.

  • Im not AMA (I'm 26) and my insurance covered it 100%. No family history. No previous losses. Nothing wrong with DD. My OB also does the test between 9-22 weeks. He said the further along you are the more accurate the results. I had my blood drawn at 10w3d anf got the results back at 12w3d. Also, my OB will only do the test if you dont do or refuse the NT test/possible amnio. Finally, like PP said, some clinics/offices dont even offer it. It is a very new test.

@MagentaMouse, even at 35 and older, insurance does not always cover the full cost for most people. You have to check with your specific coverage/plan. We have to pay $195 max out of pocket for it and I'm AMA.

@Kay1029, you have a great insurance plan! I am surprised that your OB would draw before 11 weeks, though. We were told by our OB that there's a really high risk of needing a re-draw if initially drawn before 11 weeks because often there's not enough fetal DNA.

Honestly, your OB should've told you not to draw before 11 weeks. I'd be pissed too.

He actually would have drawn it when I saw him if I was 9 weeks but I was only 8w5d so I had it drawn when I (finally) had my u/s. Its very interesting how different OBs operate. Some wait till 11 weeks, some dont do it past 16w. Mine does it anywhere between 9-22 weeks. Just find it interesting.
